The points are rounded from the factory. It cuts well. I'm happy it has arrived. :cheap-sunglasses

The SE Chaparral is a winner.

I have been using it daily since I received it a week ago and it is just great!

It is making me rethink SE for a daily use pocket knife.

I touched it up once or twice on fine sharpmaker stones at 15 degrees and the XHP is getting wicked sharp.

I think this knife will be on the short list for me to get. Price is right and looks like a fantastic knife.

I am already on two knives this year and I promised myself I would finally get a Shaman this year, if there is a good drop, so this Chaparral may have to wait until next year.

I prioritized the Native Chief LW over the Chap SE and I regret it. I am at my max capacity for knives right now so will likely sell it and get the Chap SE soon. I don’t end up carrying large knives very often. Having a 2nd Chap LW makes a lot more sense.

I’m just waiting for them to arrive in Singapore. It’ll be my first Chap, but if they make a Salt variant it definitely won’t be my last.

if so, it was unintentional.

They chamfered the lockbar at the depression point, very nice, unlike my older carbon fiber Chappy.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with this concept of “max knife capacity”.

I also have Chaparrals both with and without the chamfered lock bar. I can't say I notice any functional or comfort difference. I do think it looks better without it.

Is there any way to tell the SE from the PE with the blades closed? Surprisingly this would be the first time I got two different knives that were indiscernible closed…

Only if you look closely at the grind profile. Otherwise they are identical when closed.

Max capacity is when you own every knife on the planet I think

I can tell if I look at the tip of the blade while closed. SE knives are chisel ground, so there's only a bevel on one side of the tip. I have to look very carefully to tell. If that's a problem and you need a more obvious way to tell, you could change the clip on one of them so they look different at a glance.

I am not an avid SE user, but I noticed that they do not get hung up in the same way as my dragonfly salt SE does. It makes for more continuous cutting edge.

Agreed. One of the reasons I've never been a fan of SE is due to the snagging of the sharp serrations. I've looked hard at this one, but ultimately I just prefer PE to the extent that I can't justify putting forth the funds. This will be a great choice both for those who love, or are interested in trying, SE.
