I am eager to see your design develop into a final product. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hey scandi, I greatly appreciate your interest. currently still gathering all the materials I need to make my first knife, I’m going to be trying the file jig method, i got the eye bolt, and some files, and I already got some 1095 carbon steel in that I’m going to be working with on my first blades. Just need a few other things and im going to start working on it very soon. Still drawing new designs pretty consistently, maybe I’ll take some pics and share soon, again thanks for the interest!

Yeah, no problem. Being as I really would like to get into knife making myself, I am very curious to see how starting from scratch goes for you. I think you have an eye for design too. I am always interested to see the different shape mentality that every knife designer has. Everybody is a little bit different.

It would be cool if spyderco made a fixed blade like this. Very typical spyderco ergonomics in a fixed blade but a little more slim and neutral than the enuff fixed blade. And with a more calypso style blade and thumb ramp

I’m definitely going to try to make something like this for my homemade fixedblade edc knife

Cool, looks like a Spyderco mule knife.

Yup. But a bit different. Main differences being a slimmer more neutral handle and a larger thumbramp. For the handle I was inspired by the original C model handles like the worker, and the Caly jr blade enlarged.

The first design reminds me of a Buck 471 Diamondback.

Looks good!

Here is some measurement references.
This design is pretty close, (can’t say perfect) to an ideal edc fixed blade design for me.
For materials I’m starting out with high carbon 52100, cherry wood handle and steel pins. Eventually wanna get something a little more stainless and some black micarta and brass pins for my personal preference.
Also @sal if you see this, this amateur designer would love to know what you think, as this design fundamentally inspired by designs you’ve made that have influenced me.

;)
Here is what I thought would be a cool comparison shot, my goal in drawing this knife basically was what if you took the calypso jr design and adapted it into a fixed blade without a finger choil and full 3” cutting edge. My dream would be to have the handle material and finish identical to the original street beat, fully contoured polished black linen micarta..

I hope if anything this design serves as an idea proposal to spyderco to make a knife like this in this shape and size, I think Sal would know how to take the idea I’m shooting for here and refine it better than I can, I believe it would be a beautiful piece, and I’d definitely buy one though it’d be expensive.
