im excited a out the new coatings. dlc has a great ability to resist corrosion better than satin blades but they also increase drag. plus lowered cost is nice to hear. with larger models dlc option can add $30-50.

really interesting stuff. excited to learn more!

Just generally thrilled to see so much innovation going on. I hold out hope for a crucarta bodacious!

I noticed that too. I don’t care much for the storm pattern anodizing, but I do really like the idea of a frame lock Tenacious (and especially the Resilience).

Also really psyched that KC went this route with the sneaky reveals coming out first. I do hope they post longer interviews later.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

The new coating that Eric spoke of sounds interesting.

There are some exciting offerings in these vids. Crucarta Millie 2 looks great and those new coatings look promising. I'm still waiting on the LNLW.

Nice!

Tenacious is a knife that definitely deserves to get more and more attention and variants:

- Amazing edge to handle ratio
- Edge absolutely all the way to the handle
- Especially in higher end versions it can balance out a bit the proportion between comp. lock and liner/fame lock in favor of the latter (looking at a all aspects for me probably superior) lock type

Manix 2 LW in 15V

- Great to see this obviously amazing steel in not "only" the "standard" G10 with liners, but also in the imo ingenious and light FRCP version! Fits well together, both attributes show the development "knife making" has made since the "old days"!

Sage 5 REX 121

- Great that burnt orange remains the handle color for REX steels!
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I'll be honest, the new coating being "in house" has me worried a little. Both Benchmade and Kershaw/ZT stopped doing DLC to be able to coat in house and settled on much less durable cerakote.

On the other hand I can't imagine Sal & Eric going for something that is less durable than the current DLC so i am hoping it is one of the lesser known PVD-based industrial tool coatings out there.

Edit: saw the other video where Eric explains it's proprietary/new to the market and just as durable. Worries alleviated!

I really, really like my Manix 2 15V Heavyweight. It's a joy to carry and use. But the ONE thing it lacks is that it's not a Lightweight. The bidirectional FRCP is a joy to hold, and its appearance sets it apart. When this new "holy grail" knife hits the streets, I'm going to be sitting here at my computer, poised to click that "Buy It Now" button.

Well, I may just quote what I said in another thread about 15 V and FRN / FRCP:

" I think this very modern steel (like in a lot of expertise and knowledge has been necessary to implement it in blades) fits the also very modern, linerless FRN and FRCP really well.

Both showcase the current "art of knife making" in a way.

Nothing against more common steels and G10 with liners - but that is something basically most companies can do (though Spyderco still does it better than most ;) ), while making light, but sturdy linerless handles out of FRN/FRCP is really kind of an "art" - just like implementing 15V in knives"

Kinda bummed out that the new rex steel will again be in that burned Orange.
It makes spydies look like something that was put in a display in the sun for 20 years that nobody ever wanted to buy…

I look at the injection molded handles are elegant in their simplicity.
The complications have been removed, leaving only the lovely handles.

A three dollar bottle of Rit Dye will turn those burnt orange scales into a shade of red to match your new Corvette.

That could be but rit dye is almost impossible to find here and its more like 30€ if you so happen to find it . And then its always black or maybe grey that's it...
But i do like corvettes ... :squinting-tongue

One of the vids showed off a blue Sage 5 lightweight in SPY27.
Evidently SPY27 has also been allowed to leave the good ole USA. 😁
