Random Cell Phone Pics...

Esp if Spyderco related or wherever you are/were with your Spyderco...

My first Spyderbite...
I discovered that my Native 5 Magnacut blade WOULD drop all the way shut... The lock is just so far down the back that my index finger is not strong enough to press it down far enough for it to do so.
I had my left hand in there helping me hold it.
... just 1/16" of the tip of the falling blade wieght got me...
I found out...

Usually when I get out here, it's with my mora knife and whatever pocket knife i'm carrying.
Now, it will be my mora knife and my lightest and least likely to need sharpening... or or stained from cutting fruit or protein... pocketknife.

Which will be my Magnacut Native 5 Salt Lightweight.

Hiking for leafless winter views and springtime overflowing springtime waterfalls starts soon!

At this steak house job I normally used my higher end knives, but this was from mothers day weekend. We served between 550-600 people in 4 hours. So I grabbed some cheap beaters because I knew we'd be going balls to the wall and things would get dinged up. These three cost under $50 combined, though the 10" victorinox I used to slice prime rib has gone up in price over the years.

Image

The wharnie victorinox paring knife was for utility, opening up vac sealed steaks etc.

The Kiwi 172 (best $4 knife I own) butterflied filets and sliced steaks when customers requested it.

The 10" narrow Vic chef knife cut prime rib portions and handled pre service prep.

Here's my kid using the 172 to chop parsley for meatballs. She's got great knife skills for someone that's not even 10!

Technically, it's not really a Spyderbite unless the blood is dripping onto the ground. Your landscape shot is nice. The light and composition are spot on. The picture of the kid cooking makes me happy. Too many youngsters (and families) rely on fast food. Good on ya, pops.

Here's my Ladybug picture from last weekend. The Spyderco Ladybug was in my pocket.

Dang.
I'm frustrated and about to give up on this forum...
I'm frustrated about the process I have to go through to post pictures.
I wrote a couple paragraphs alluding to the advantage of a scandy grind on a back country knife and wondered maybe if spyderco would ever make a knife with a scandy grind.
Put my pictures on some other websibefore. I posted them here and couldn't figure out how to do it...
So I resized my picture on my phone to 1 Mb and come back and my text was gone.
I was hoping to become a part of this thing. But I guess I could just always read and not participate.

Here's my tiny picture I can't figure out how to post any bigger...

Sentry Tuf-cloth just made a believer outta me...
Mineral spirit base does the cleaning and then evaporates, leaving behind a dry, bonding lubricant and protectant that doesn't attract dirt and grime like oil does.
Once they were dry, the blades still looked like they were wet. One more wipe down and store.
That old Rescue looks brand new again.
I'm buying a little bottle.

Which region of the US is that, Vivi?
I'm between Atlanta and Lake Lanier in central north georgia. I can imagine that being within a few hundred miles of here in several different directions...
I'd love to have a place where I could do that and call my own...
Moving from the busy, high tax burbs to the countryside is on the agenda soon...

That's about where I am! I think there are a few of us on here that live in this area. Which I guess is not too hard to imagine since it is so populated.
