I purchased my original Slysz Bowie Folder (C186TIP) with CTS-XHP Blade and Titanium Handle in September 2014 for $279.95 from Cutlery Shoppe. So, I paid 44% off MSRP of $499.95.
Nice, I purchased mine in 2018 and by then it had gone up to $299.99
The original price at NGK in September 2014 was $299.99, so it hadn’t gone up by the time you bought yours in 2018. I’m not sure how RamZar got his from CS for $20 cheaper!

Yet I did! Pre-MAP days.

No denying you did!! Just more of a grrr that my favorite vendor’s price was $299.99! The funny thing is that I actually didn’t buy my CC 087 because I thought it was too expensive (or at least my wife certainly did). Brancron bought it, sent it off to be rock-patterned (plus adding a small lockbar cutout to finger flick it better), and then later I traded him a custom Steve Ketchen N5 for it. Josh at REK then put this edge on it for me. I really just wanted a reason to post this pic, to me it’s the greatest Spyderco model ever produced. Sorry for derailing the thread everyone!

Very nice!

I also think the original Slysz Bowie is perhaps “the greatest Spyderco model ever produced”. It’s the combination of compact form, stonewashed contoured titanium, crowned spine and unique blade stonewashing. I prefer M390 over XHP, barrel spacers over the G-10 backspacer and the inclusion of the lockbar insert & overtravel stop.

Some dealer should do an exclusive Slysz Bowie with MagnaCut, Green or Bronze Anodized Titanium, Green or Bronze Barrel Spacers and the Lockbar insert & overtravel stop.

S90V PM2 could easily be the only knife you'd ever need. I'm not one to settle, but it's a great steel and knife (I have the dlc version).

I picked up my Slysz Bowie in 2017, as a gift to myself for turning 28 lol; I got the year mixed up.
And yes I agree a PM2 with S90V could easily be the one knife; I put some OEM CF on mine.
To stay more relevant to the topic, is anyone else as hyper excited to get a Military 2 with CF/S90V as I?

i think i'm going to give cruwear a chance in pe and get my first military. i'm also excited about potentially giving the spymyto, a native chief lw salt, and a stretch 2 salt a try. still need that manix salt as well. too many knives and not enough funds.

i'm also really looking forward to the next reveal. it might change some of the ones on my current list. i'm hoping to see more coated versions announced.

After reading this, I tried to remember what I paid for the OG Slysz Bowie. I can't remember, and cannot find that info in my email at this moment. If I had to guess, I'd say around $375, and that was probably circa 2015.

The OG Slysz Bowie C186Ti - Stonewash Ti- PE - CTS-XHP was in production from Sept. 2014 - 2017, and the Spyderco MSRP was $499.95 (in 2014). :bug-red-white

I love that knife, and am now going to carry it tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder! :smlling-eyes

Remind me again, please. What is our current -% calculation number to use, when figuring street price off of Spyderco's MSRP. Is is 40%, or?

Maybe the "back of my head" remembering (about 9 years ago now:) was off by an even $100? :smlling-eyes
Maybe it was closer to $275 for me, in 2015? Either way, I do remember thinking back then, that it was a heck of a lot of money for a pocket knife. :cheap-sunglasses

I was happy then, and am still happy that I made that purchase. Looking back at it now, with eyes from 2024, and still carrying it today from time to time. The lack of a lock-bar insert never has given me any issues, but do now agree, that every Ti knife now should have one.

The Spyderco App says the blade coating is DLC. The BladeHQ price of $135.95 for Manix2 CPM-M4 DLC FRCP is great considering the regular production Manix2 CTS-BD1N DLC FRCP is $153.75.
