IDENTIFY this knife

#1

Post by rocky »

Hey all,

I bought this knife recently without a box, and I'm trying to find out what it is. It looks like original spyderco product. Also it looks like a byrd knife. I have no idea which model. It might be fake. Can someone please help. Thank you!

Hi and welcome.
Hope it was cheap.

I recommend a Dragonfly.
If you want something bigger a Tenacious.
And a sharpmaker to keep them sharp (including kitchen knives as well)

Hi Rocky,

Welcome to our forum.

Very glad to say it's absolutely definitely positively not one of ours.

Welcome to the forum, Rocky!

Now IF this was a "Spyderco" it would rather be model of their value Byrd line, going by the shape of the opening hole.

Generally I´d recommend getting a "real" Spyderco (for a really small one the Dragonfly Ric recommended, though I personally would go not THAT small but rather grab a Delica for a compact choice).

But if you want to still save some money the Byrd line has solid choices too!

I gifted several Meadowlarks to people (whom I were not sure of if they´d get into carrying a folder at all), very nice knife - see here https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... -2-FRN/590

For a really small Byrd probably roughly similar in size to the one your pic shows see the Robin https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... liffe/2264
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

There are lots of Chinese made knock offs and some are okay knives and some are not. Over here I can get a Delica or PM2 in any color I can think of for less than $10. Of course, the same is true for Rolex watches (some using Seiko movements), Burberry purses, and about anything you can think of.

Like the OP's knife, there are all sorts of fantasmal looking knives that Spyderco never made with the Spyderco logo proudly displayed.
