Not sure if this belongs in open topic, so I apologize ahead of time. Also, this is not a Spyderco item so I'm not sure if this is a sin or not, so I'll apologize for that too, but strictly speaking Spyderco doesn't have a competing product so I think it'll be okay.
Anyway, a friend just stopped by with a belated birthday present for me and I instantly fell in love with it. It's too small to replace my Leatherman but I'm going to find a way to carry it because it's just awesome
It's the SOG power pint. It has just about everything you need and it just feels so good in hand. This is surprising, because I am not a fan of SOG at all but I have to give credit where due, they really knocked it out of the park with this little guy.
My friend gave it to me because he's been carrying one for a couple of years now and it's passed every challenge he threw at it. So I figured I'd share it with you folks. It's tiny, about the size of a delica folded. The action is incredibly smooth.

that looks like a nice tool for off topic discussion and for my work. might have to look into it.

Pretty sure this belongs to off-topic, but if the pliers can last as long as a Leatherman, then it's worth a look in my opinion. I've been a fan of Leathermans because the fit and finish are just ahead of other multi-tools I've handled. Plus there are a lot of reports of SOGs breaking down prematurely. Maybe this one will change the trend? Who knows.

I would pay top dollar for a Spyderco multi tool with pliers.

These Leatherman type multi tools always cram too much stuff in. Like a hoarder in a mobile home. The number of times in my life I needed can opener or a leather punch away from my house full of tools is zero. I already have a knife in my pocket so I donβt need a crappy non-ergonomic blade.
I really just need pliers and maybe screw driver to cover most of my needs.

It's a cool multitool, and yes, posting in Off Topic is probably best. There are a number of other non-Spyderco cutlery discussions there also.

You wold have to
Now seriously. A Spyderco designed multitool would be of course super cool, but I don't expect them to consider it seriously. It is too much work to design, test, tune and then sell high enough numbers to make profitable. There are a few big players in the multitool world and the market is well saturated. To penetrate it would be really hard.

I'd happily pay $300 for a true Salt multitool, but I'm not sure how many other people would.

I've carried SOG multi-tools for 20+ years. First the Paratool and then the Power-lock, the old one without scissors.
I'm never without it.

My Victorinox multitool has held up really well in the salty realm so far, but I rinse it regularly and I haven't tried neglecting it yet. I think it's also one of the more expensive multitools on the market, so I try not to drop it in the ocean. :-)
