Future value of Paysan on secondary market?

Now that the Paysan is officially discontinued and supply has dried up, will the value increase in the secondary market like the Nirvana? Personally, I see it settling around the $800-$1,000 range. Thoughts?

I’ve heard of them hitting quadruple digits in the past, same with the Nirvana. I believe the Paysan will see a very similar increase in collector value as well.

So glad I was able to get my Paysan in the seconds sale last year. It's one my prized Spydies and I didn't have to pay a fortune for it. So I'm not afraid to carry and use it

That will indeed be the case.
But now with the Paysan gone its time for a successor to rise.... :winking-tongue

What made this knife so expensive? If I understand correctly it’s made of a single piece of milled Ti but the price on this was well North of a CRK.

Design, workmanship, materials, and execution. I own 12 Spyderco folders. Manix, pm2, Kapara, Autonomy, and the Paysan is just in an entirely different league. The way it opens and closes you can tell it’s different from the other knives. Like you can tell the first time you handled a pm2 versus other brands folders that it was significantly better.

Sal's always been pretty transparent about their pricing. So I'll assume the Paysan is priced according to their normal pricing structure and production cost are all figured accordingly. It's also a collaboration with Peter Rassenti. I would think the collab designer gets a cut

I agree with Dnwrghtstr that the Paysan is at a different level. At least the one I own is. Whether it's worth $600 is up to the buyer. Personally, I can't bring myself to pay that but I also can't justify paying the price for a Seb

Well, mine isn’t going to be worth anything because I love to use it too much!

My boys will actually put away/swap out the knives on my EDC tray because they’ve already claimed their favorites to be passed on and don’t want me to ruin them.

That's what I wonder, if you have it and you carry and use it...why care about the secondary market?

I think people just like knowing that their prized posession has increased in value. Maybe for them it justifies what they originally paid for the item? There's nothing wrong with that. Even if they're users they can still increase in value. As long as they don't trash the knife there's a good chance it'll be worth more than what they paid originally

We see this a lot on the forum I moderate on. People asking for value on nice old guns they've had (or just received) hoping they're worth a fortune (haha). I don't think they have any intent on selling the item. It just makes them feel good knowing it's worth more than they paid

It's nice to think you have possible net income on a knife in your collection. I came in to the knife hobby late so discovering the Paysan and landing one was amazing. It's an interesting piece to keep in the collection. I like telling my spouse it's worth more now.🤣

I can’t wait to mod my Paysan and make it worth 1/10th what I paid for it 🤣🤣🤣🤣

OOS. Patriot has 3 left. The market still seems very strong on these.
