Still over 700 available. Doesn’t look like a big seller. I am looking forward to mine.

Yeah, I’d probably actually like doing it….as a retired dentist, OCD tinkering with my hands and creating shapes is pretty natural. However, between tools, parts, materials, and a tendency to want the best results it may be a rabbit hole I’m not ready to go down
.
Respectfully disagree, doctor! If you have dentistry skills, you would love making complete mules, would be a natural at it, and the tool-up is not large. Achieving the best results is what makes it fun. You maybe won't get there on your first try but you'll enjoy the challenge. If you are OCD like me, make scales that screw in place rather than epoxy--then you can re-do whatever you don't like. Review Xplorer's tutorials in the Mule subforum on how to haft a mule and how to make a Kydex sheath, and have some fun, put your skills to use.
Had to look up “haft” and “hafting a knife”…LOL
Ok, thanks for the tutorial mention….maybe I’ll read a little

Basically a dentist drill
Haha….yeah, I have one of those
I’m going to go read up on this scale subject….thanks

Mine delivered today. All of them look good, edges are consistent and equally sharp. Came pretty well oiled.
No hardness dent dimple on this one so it being done on the previous mule must have been a one off thing or maybe due to this one coming from Japan rather than Taiwan.

I was also curious as to why this was priced high. In the past I’ve ordered two to get the ‘free’ shipping. This one costs real money, and after 15v’s 10 just seems so flaccid (soft).
Re: MT36P – K294 MICROCLEAN Mule Team Dropping Soon!
Because the steel K294 is German made. From Germany it travels to Japan where this particular mule is being done. And from Japan the mules travel to SFO in Golden. You can imagine all this adds to the final price. With that being said I stand behind my words that all the mules are pretty well priced. I doubt you can find a blade in the same steel with the same price.

I am not Ramzar, but, you can put an item in your cart, then when in your cart you can put in a crazy number in the quantity and update your cart. After it updates, it will correct your cart to how many are left

Got mine today. Edge bevels pretty wonky (Seki ), but whatever I was gonna sharpen it anyway. Really like 10V, but don't have any in a fixed blade so this K294 mule should be great.
Re: MT36P – K294 MICROCLEAN Mule Team Dropping Soon!
I did a really quick search to try to answer my own question and found a 2012 thread on BF. Apparently in cutting performance 10V and K294 are equal or very close to equal, K390 is also very close but might be slightly behind.

699 available Aug 25. Scratching my head why these aren't flying off the shelf (well, higher price than normal)...very top grade steel though, and remarkably tough for its very high edge retention. Seems worth the +$20.
Of course, I don't understand why any AEB-L are available either...what an unusual hard heat treat on such a tough steel. Really a unique item.

Wow that many still available. I kinda wanted to get the spy27 mule next but having to throw out 8 grand for the emergency surgeries my wife needed has halted my knife budget. I sure hope I get to hear honest feedback from actual user experience with this one.

It’s possibly a Mule Team saturation? How many mules can aficionados really use? I would think unless you use them almost daily in your work, how much difference can one expect in basic cutting tasks? Which leaves collecting….

Right. The danger is another boom and bust cycle for mules. I wonder if Spyderco needs to be spreading out their releases more. Not for me, I'm happy for all the releases and buy every time. I'm just thinking for the company's sake, so they don't have months of stock on the shelves. OTOH, maybe that's what they want. Maybe they don't want frenetic sellouts.
