Re: WTC help
It’s construction grade steel salvaged from ground zero, and not stainless.
More than 2 decades on, it’s unlikely to be a warranty issue, don’t you think? If the patina bothers you then you may wish to research conservation techniques or services.

Re: WTC help
The molds of the handle where destroyed after the production. The chance of finding spare parts is slim to nothing. Iirc there are still pieces of the beam found in SFO.

Re: WTC help
That’s one you might just want to leave alone. Anything you do to it would likely hurt the value, not to mention the original intent behind its creation. That’s a very special knife.

And that patina serves as a daily reminder of the source of those materials! Let us not forget.

Re: WTC help
Was thinking the same. Briefly I collected coins in my childhood, and was not super pleased when I found out I shouldn't be restoring anything. Come to think of it maybe that's why I dropped it?
What can I say, I like em shiny and chrome.
Being that it's probably Spyderco's most special knife ever made, I'd wait on a word from the big man himseslf, or barring that, just not touch it. Maybe store it with dessicant, but that's all I'd personally do.
Re: WTC help
Try wiping it with a cleaner designed for plumbing.
Re: WTC help
I think so too!

Hi Rycen,
I don't know if we can do anything with it. We did coat the skyline , but it's been a long time. Think about it and what others have said. If you decide to send it in to us, let me know and I'll alert Charlynn that it's coming.
