another appeal for black salts

#1

Post by ladybug93 »

the blacked out se pacific salt is easily my most carried knife, even though i'd consider other knives my favorites. the pac salt is indispensable for me and many others around here. and i know this has been requested here many times, but i'm going to just ask again because i really think it would sell a lot more knives (at least i know i would buy more).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE offer more blackout (ticn) salt models.

none of the lc200n or magnacut models are available in all black and there are many h1/h2 models that are not offered in black either.

i'd absolutely buy a salt 2 wharncliffe, ukpk salt, a df2 salt, and a ladybug hawkbill salt in all black at a minimum. i'd also absolutely buy (if they existed) a pac salt wharncliffe, waved matriarch salt, and a stretch 2 xl salt in ticn as well.

that reminds me... i was watching blade show videos and when eric was showing that chief lw, i was thinking that it would make an excellent salt knife. add that to my list of knives i'd buy in a black salt version.

Oof, hearing about DLC LC200N or MagnaCut makes my lizard brain all prickly with excitement.

More TiCN/DLC please!

+1 for an all black Ladybug Hawkbill!

Image

:smiling-heart-eyes This but in regular production so I can buy more.

An all black Dragonfly Hawbill would be as awesome as well. :bug-white-red

I'm way on board with this. Please offer a Pacific Salt wharncliffe while you're at it!

I'd love to see more blacked out salts, but I think an all black UKPK would be a contradiction. It's a knife created around meeting legal requirements and not frightening the non-knife loving public. Like it or not blacked out knives are "scary."

A Pac Salt wharny would be spot on!

Since Magnacut is not 100% rustproof, that's a good argument for adding a blade coating...

Have you had the chance to try to rust Magnacut yet? I’m mainly curious as you seem to have that talent.

Pete from Cedric and Ada did an interesting test on the corrosion resistance of D2, S30V (or S35VN, I can’t remember which), Magnacut and Vanax. He mixed up a very corrosive slurry and dumped it into 4 equally sized containers and placed a knife in each. After several days he came back and checked. The Vanax wiped clean, the Magnacut had some discoloration at the tip where it sat in the particulates that settled on the bottom, the S30V had some minor rust spots and the D2 needed to basically be sandblasted. I think Magnacut is a great choice for the Salt series because it’s so well balanced. It gives up a little on toughness and corrosion resistance to LC200N but is much better on edge retention. I also think Vanax would be a great choice for the Salt series as it’s on par with LC200N in terms of corrosion resistance but far outclasses it in edge retention. LC200N is by far a tougher steel however but I think Vanax has enough toughness to warrant the switch. Regardless of the steel used, I think there’s a large enough market to warrant some more black Salts.

Nope. Waiting for a big boi magnacut knife with an opening hole. I'd be okay with a Chief, Police, Manix XL, Catcherman, Pacific Salt, Yojumbo or Resilience if anyone that can make these things happen is listening ;) ;)

There are FRN Native Chief lightweight models in the latest reveal, I'd have to guess that a Native Chief Salt is maybe like 2 or 3 reveals away? I'm making that up, but it would seem pretty possible. :crossed-fingers :crossed-fingers
