Spyderco Caribbean on Sale

#1

Post by mongo1958 »

I was scanning the internet knife stores and I found the Caribbean SE leaf on sale at knife center for $194.95.
I think the yellow stripes are kind of funky looking but the price is pretty good so I ordered it.
David shared some photos of scales that were dyed. So this knife may be changing color after I get it.

I say you made the right call. I don't hear a lot of regret on the Caribbean.

And you need to kindly ask Salty to teach you about his scale mod because it is frickin awesome.

RIT Dye is easy. Just need to boil water for G10. FRN seems to do great with water from my instant hot water tap (extremely hot, but I don't have to boil in a pot), but G10 needs to boil. You could go black, gray, or add some blue.

The serrated leaf Caribbean is a great knife. Plus one on Salty’s scale mod, it’s both practical and beautiful.

WOW!
:fist-bump 💥 knock out blow.
BTW, If you want one you may want to buy sooner than later. They have been discontinued.
I have been smitten by the SE and its ability to aggressively cut through what ever it is being used on.
The P4 SE and the Delica 4 were the latest.

I hope that the Caribbean being discontinued is indicative of a revised version launching soon. Fundamentals of that model are great. I think the scales were unpopular and expensive to produce. Myself I’d love it with thinner blade stock and FRN scales. Everything else is beautiful about the design, for me. MagnaCut would be nice.

Agreed.
You know, I don't see aftermarket scales for these knives either.

This would be an instant purchase for me because that’s my favorite lock AND handle material…just hate the word “RUMOR”…I’m more partial to “REVEAL” and “AVAILABLE” 🤣

i'm surprised that the se models went on sale on the spyderco site and are now sold out, but they haven't had pe versions on there for months. the pe versions aren't discontinued, so i'm curious as to why they aren't listed for sale anymore.

Maybe they are selling off stock to clear inventory before introducing an updated version?
