Sounds great, Naperville! Glad you're starting to feel better. Keep it up! I would try to avoid doing too much too soon. But do whatever you can do that makes you feel better. You'll build up to your goal, and you will succeed.

Going to spread fertilizer on the front lawn today. It really needs it, the weeds are taking over! Might go for a walk after that.

I thought nothing unusual of all of the fit folks in the 70's and 80's, now almost everyone including me is overweight and out of shape. I'm doing my best but according to the best "YouTube Drs," I may have to exercise quite a bit and fast for 24 to 48hrs to lose weight. My A1C and glucose are no longer insanely high, I'm still in what Drs would call a prediabetic range, but no longer losing weight.

Homeostatic Insulin Resistance, Insulin Resistance Test (Best Test for IR & Stubborn Weight Loss) Homa-IR
HOMA-IR = (BloodGlucose * Insulin)/405. 1.0 is considered perfectly in balance. Mine is 5.3 so there is a lot of work to do. According to this video I am seriously insulin resistant. I'll be talking with my Drs today about this.

NEVER SAY NEVER!

I just got back from talking to two of my Drs. They wanted to take me off of my diabetes medication because my glucose and A1C are almost normal for a non diabetic now. I am in the prediabetic range now. I asked them to keep me on Jardiance until I meet with them 6 months from now. I am going to keep dieting, start fasting 24 to 48 hrs at least 1x per week to speed weight loss, cut food portions in half, walk more and take a few more supplements but they did not recommend them.

They were surprised at my approach I guess. I just hate losing. I do not want to shorten my life unnecessarily.

My current lifestyle and the supplements that I am now taking are what got me to where I am. I am going to double down and do even more.

Great video!

That Dr is as sharp as they come at 102. My father's mother, my grandmother, almost hit 102 and she started having problems getting around at 100, but she still did her thing every day.

I bought all 3 off these Kindle books. I also ordered the 1st two books for my Drs and then shipped copies to them from Amazon. Hopefully they read the books so that we are on the same page.

From Dr Peter Attia's emails:
The Four Horsemen of Chronic Disease
The following amounts over 80% of deaths in people over 50 who do not smoke…
- Atherosclerotic disease (comprised of cardiovascular disease and cerebrovascular disease)
- Cancer
- Neurodegenerative disease (Alzheimer’s disease being the most common)
- “Foundational disease” ⇒ a spectrum of everything hyperinsulinemia to insulin resistance to fatty liver disease to type 2 diabetes

From Dr Peter Attia's emails:
The Centenarian Decathlon™

In training for the Centenarian Decathlon™, there are four categories of exercise that I believe provide the most value.
- Stability: Stability is what allows us to safely transfer force from our body to the outside world and vice versa. Virtually any orthopedic injury you sustain can be traced back to some deficiency here.
- Strength: In its simplest form, strength means utilizing muscle to generate force. And if you are interested in living a long and healthy life and playing with your great-grandkids someday, then muscle mass should be a priority. Never in the history of human civilization has a 90-year-old said, “I wish I had less muscle” or “I wish I was less strong.”
- Zone 2 training (aerobic efficiency): Zone 2 is defined as the highest metabolic output/work that you can sustain while keeping your lactate level below two millimole per liter. Functionally, this measures your peak aerobic efficiency.
- VO2 max (maximum aerobic output): Your VO2 max refers to the maximum rate at which your muscles can extract oxygen from your blood and put it to metabolic use to generate energy. There is no metric–biomarker or otherwise–that is more highly associated with the length of your life than your VO2 max.

NOTES FOR "OUTLIVE" BY PETER ATTIA MD
Attia MD, Peter . Outlive (p. 47). Harmony/Rodale. Kindle Edition

The key difference between Medicine 2.0 and Medicine 3.0 has to do with how and when we apply our tactics. Typically, Medicine 2.0 steps in only when something is acutely wrong, like an infection or a broken bone, with short-term fixes for the immediate problem. In Medicine 3.0, our tactics must become interwoven into our daily lives. We eat, breathe, and sleep them—literally. Medicine 2.0 relies on two types of tactics, broadly speaking: procedures (e.g., surgery) and medications. Our tactics in Medicine 3.0 fall into five broad domains: exercise, nutrition, sleep, emotional health, and exogenous molecules, meaning drugs, hormones, or supplements.

Another interesting video. Amazing woman.

I'm not a health food nut, and I'm not a vegan or anything, but I estimate that about 90 % of my diet is plant-based. Fruits, vegetables, organic brown rice, gluten-free oatmeal (my favorite is Bob's Red Mill), and some raw almonds and other nuts. And I haven't touched beef or pork since 1995.

Julia is amazing! :party-face

There are quite a few documents on her starting at around 90yrs of age. She continues to compete at 106? 107? and in fantastic health so as to be able to jog/run and take care of yourself every day? She is 1 in 6+ billion. I've never seen anything like her.

I would not want to make her suffer at all but all of these longevity scientists and Drs should give her a couple of million for participating in research that would allow them to study her say 2 days a month for 4 hours of lab tests. We need to know how she got to where she is. We need to look at her DNA, give her treadmill tests to find her true max VO2 and anything else that we can find out. She is a unique opportunity for knowledge. According to her children, she is an huge optimist and I think that is a big part of it. You have to have the will to survive and be happy.

I think that was the truth up until the 90's, and then universities, doctors and pharma got involved. This area has been expanding since 2000. I found a link to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that I downloaded last week called "aging laboratories(Updated).xlsx" that has over 325 universities investigating aging, and the document is more than 4 years old.

HERE IS THE DOCUMENT
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

There are at least 500 universities and corporations doing research on healthspan and lifespan by now. Healthspan has to do with increasing the overall health of everyone(or as many as they possibly can) to their natural age limit, which seems to be around 115 years old. Lifespan has to do with extending life beyond 115 years of age.

Healthspan and Lifespan research takes into account everything that happens to a person after the age of 50. There are a lot of scientists working on this now.

The sites that I posted earlier were working on biohacking with rapamycin and acarbose. Thousands of biohackers are involved.

But, I don't know...maybe this thread should be behind a secure paywall, and by invitation only. Can you imagine the he :respect Jim Ankerson would raise as a 115 year old?

:winking-tongue

Just having fun with you Mr Ankerson. I figure with my atherosclerosis and mental health issues I'm already living on borrowed time. If not for modern medical science increasing the healthspan/lifespan of people with bad heart valves, my natural life would have ended in 2017! But if I can live for just one more day every day, who knows how far out I can push my age.

I'm going to live as long as I possibly can.

Based on this video and other documents here is where I am:

LOOK AT TAKING:
- lysine
- astaxanthin
- meclizine (dramamine, bonine, antivert) 8% incr in lifespan
- rapamycin and acarbose 29% incr in lifespan

STOP TAKING:
- resveratrol, no effect
- fisetin, no effect

Let's stay positive. Our generation will not see the majority living to 100 in perfectly good health but I have faith in science that within the next 100 years that that will be the case.

Personally, I'd rather she just be allowed to continue enjoying the rest of her time on this earth happy, healthy, and free. I highly doubt at this point that a million, or even 2 million dollars, means anything to her. Even if she were studied extensively, living to her age at all, much less as healthy as she is, will still be a rarity. Biologically, she's old enough to have had a grandkid who would be in their late 70s now.

Being an optimist and positive in general definitely is a big part of it. Many people ignore or underestimate the role of one's general attitude in life when it comes to both physical and mental health.

I agree, I'd rather not pester/bother her. The monies would benefit her and her family. Just thinking about the benefits, maybe they could run non invasive tests once every month and after she is deceased.

Another rapamycin trial searching for health and lifespan!
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT ... 8&rank=286

Here is a trial I am trying to get into. Just trying to extend life on the planet! As far as I know anyone can participate.

Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, "Blinded Reference Set for Multicancer Early Detection(MCED) Blood Tests" They are trying to detect cancer using MCEDs and this is a relatively new thing. There is a hospital in my area that is involved and all that I have to do is donate blood.
