I don't know about normal, but that's how mine looks. It's from the batch KnifeJoy did a year ago or so. Love the thing but that seemingly late lock up makes me wonder also.

I have one from very early on in production and it looks like that. I guess they have made no effort to adjust the tolerances. It's always seemed like late lock up for a framelock.

I've handled a lot of Spydiechefs and all have been right about the same as your photo.
