Get Rid-Dyemore,
1 part dye
1 part vinegar
3 parts water

Lots of recipes/variations online. Heat to boiling and let it stop bubbling. Dip in the scales and watch the magic happen. Check often to make sure you don't pass the colour you want.

that rex native is the best. If that doesn't generate some interest in ivory scales i don't know what will

Yeah. that Native is cool. So is that red/white/blue dye job.
I hope we get a Rex45 Native Chief Sprint and I hope GPKnives goes for a white FRN/Rex45 combo too. Some of the best performance and value I can imagine honestly.

I put the mix in a bottle (spaghetti sauce or some such) in a pot of water. Sort of like a double boiler. That being said, if you pot is stainless, it shouldn't impact. The good thing about the bottle is that you can put the lid on when cool and use it again later...

True statement. Another option Spyderco might consider is just offer white scales on Native 5 or Para 3 in SPY 27. I'm guessing it would help sales of that steel and be a Win-Win.

I'd be down for that as well. I love my Spy27 Native! I actually like the color of the scales it comes with but hey, options are always nice.

The problem I've had with dye is that it always wears through eventually. After dying this Native 5 and sanding the edges to expose the yellow on purpose, it really has me looking for other colors that might look cool done this way, but I'm not sure white would be it.

I just want screw construction on the FRN models with the supersteels so I can easily take the **** things apart for blade transplants.

Is the thread actually asking about white FRN? Because I agree, Spyderco has clearly differentiated between the two “colors.”

It didn’t, that’s distinctly Spydercos ivory FRN color.

Coyote tan or Coyote Brown is a clearly a darker shade of brown.

Clearly according to the catalog, less clearly according to the rest of the tactical world that would probably say that ivory color is closer to coyote tan. I guess part of it is lighting too, the Urban sprint looked more like an ivory color to me than the Stretch does.

That is Dutch Boy's color match to coyote tan. Looks like a close match to me.

I dunno, maybe it is all lighting. The more pics I see if the Stretch it looks more tan in some and lighter in others. I imagine ivory as a lighter color.

It does look lighter on the flat center where the Spyderco logo is, maybe the shadows of the FRN texture make it look darker to me.

Spyderco ≠ Dutch Boy

Spyderco calls this Brown but it’s a much closer match to the “Coyote Tan” that you’re talking about.

It’s not greatly different from the ivory Stretch 2 FRN color but it is definitely darker and a different shade.

We’re basically just parsing words except with digital colors at this point. I think the main point here is that the three of us agree that ivory is not white.
