Old pub

Last nights stay.

Just a couple of miles from where I lived in early childhood, the George was built in 1397, and infamous for hosting Judge Jeffrey’s Bloody Assizes in 1685 after a failed rebellion.

The moral of this story is that if you’re going to have a rebellion, make sure you win.

Pretty cool pics. Only been to the UK twice. Interesting to drink a pint sitting in the same spot as some bloke 500 years ago. Those Monmouth jokers should have been carrying some Sypdercos... and AK's.

Neat! I've been watching "Time Team" (90's early 2000s archeology show) on Prime and I wish I could go in my backyard and dig for Roman, Bronze, Iron etc artifacts.

I'll bet the hills near your house contain plenty of artifacts... American artifacts... the stone kind.

When I was small at various times we found both stone-age flint arrowheads and WW2 20mm cannon shell casings (from the aerial dogfights) in our family garden / backyard!

I’m sure a lot of artefacts are simply missed or unrecognised, though.

We had a month long family trip to the UK planned in summer of 2020--which was obviously cancelled. I'm not sure when we'll get to do it now, but hopefully we'll get back around to it now that the world is getting back to 'normal-ish'. I'd love to add that pub to our itinerary, whenever we get there.
