Am I the only one…
Am I the only one who wants to see a 3/16ths + stock LC200N or Magna cut camp knife? I will probably soon have a custom made in LC200N chunky, tough beater camp knife because none seem to exist on the market.

I don't need one, but it sure makes sense.

Yes, yes you are.
Re: Am I the only one…
I mentioned those steel because of their toughness and stainless qualities obviously. A “Salt” fixed blade, if you will.

Re: Am I the only one…
the magnacut mule is thinner than this, but fills this role for me. i'm not sure i'd want it to be thicker, but i wouldn't be opposed to trying it out for a bigger, harder use camp knife.

I've been thinking about getting the Bradford 5.5 in MagnaCut, but I'm waiting to see if anyone comes out with something in the 7-inch blade length.

I’d love to see your steel suggestions on the temperance , i imagine that would make a great campknife.

More Spyderco fixed blades are always good. Whether I’d personally want one would really depend on the exact design.
I think I have some pretty good designs for Salt fixed blades, including larger ones that could considered “camp knives”, but they’re no more than drawings right now. I’d like to at least make some physical models before trying my hand at sending a design in.
I’ve been trying to get better at designing folding knives so my progress has been slow, but fixed blades are less complicated.
I think my ideas are good.
It’s just weird to send in a knife design when I’ve never actually made a proper knife from scratch. It’s a little hard to get past that feeling of knowing there are other people with good designs here that actually make knives, so “who am I to send in a design?”.
And I’m really just doing this in my free time because it’s fun and interesting to me.

Are you camping on a beach?
Corrosion resistance is pretty low on my list of qualities in a camp knife. I have a couple stainless woods knives in steels like VG10 and 154CM and it’s nice to worry less but the truth is that I have never had issues with basic carbon steels while camping so any stainless steel is more stainless than I need. I have carried 1095 in the woods more than any other steel and still often carry it.

This. I think I am one of the few people in the knife community who is pretty "meh" on Magnacut. My H1 Salt folders, Cruwear folders, and Delta 3V fixed blades have my bases covered and have more than enough corrosion resistance for my needs. Even my K390 folders are more than enough in terms of corrosion resistance.

Re: Am I the only one…
I think it makes a lot of sense to bring back the Province in MagnaCut. It used 4V and MagnaCut will perform similarly while being super corrosion resistant.
It would effectively become a salt knife, so maybe a less polished handle would be in order for better grip in wet environments.
Not sure if the Province is within your definition of a “Camp Knife”.
I have camped on small islands here in Florida.
A 1095 knife would be in trouble out there with someone like me.
Frankly, in my experience, any non-stainless can start to rust as I’m using it near any moisture here, but I admit to having no experience with 3V, Cruwear, K390, etc..
I have never lived very far from the coast and typically within a short walk of the water.
There’s a tidal creek in my yard, a bayou across the street, the beach/coast is down the road, mangroves and salt marsh abound, and the dirt has enough salt and moisture in it to rust any non-stainless steel.
Even during my time hiking around the Appalachian Trail (which is as far from the coast as I’ve ever been), corrosion was likely, especially when storms flood your tent and soak everything in the middle of the night.
Whether I’d sometimes prefer to have only a “camp knife” or go with a machete/chopper plus a smaller fixed blade and/or folder is another question, but I’m typically pretty concerned about corrosion.
That’s doesn’t mean I only use or like stainless steels, but they make a lot of sense for me.
In any case, corrosion is a worry for me and MagnaCut is cool because it’s as much an “Afi” steel as stuff like 4V and Cruwear without any worry.
LC200N works too, but I think MagnaCut has some advantages or will prove to, for some.

Re: Am I the only one…
I plan on getting a K390 Enuff 2 sometime, though, so I’ll report back on how that goes, but even a lot of stainless steels like VG10 will rust somewhat readily for me and especially for my Dad.

Re: Am I the only one…
^^ great points. An outdoor camp knife, and maybe a type of knife you want the versatility to do some food prep with as well on a camping trip. You don’t really want surface oxidation and rust coming in contact with it.
