Please take a few minutes to fill out the Folder Survey 2023 that I created (with lots of help from the forum). As one forumite put it: “this is a survey by knife nerds, for knife nerds.” Your thoughts and preferences are needed on issues such as: blades, handles, choils, locks & steels! There are 17 questions total, and you should be able to complete it in about 3 minutes. It’s an anonymous survey, no names or contact info is collected. It’s just for fun. Thanks in advance for your participation! When the survey closes in a month or so, results (in the form of pretty graphics) will be posted to this thread.

I hope that the Forum Folder project pushes through. It would be exciting to have one for my outdoor recreation activities

It is likely too late to have any influence on a forum knife for 2023. (If it were to happen)

Ultimately, I have no preference for a forum knife but I think the best course of action is to just let Spyderco decide on their own. It’s impossible to get the forum to agree on one knife, let alone it’s final configuration. I think even getting a majority vote in a poll would be difficult.

Maybe I’m missing something and this isn’t a poll for a traditional “Forum knife.” If that’s the case, what is meant by “Forum Folder Project?”

Okay I get it now, thanks for clarifying for me. I was reading “forum folder” as a compound word and thought it was a poll for a “forum knife.”

That was fun, can't wait to see what others think and how far I fall from that.

understandable. anyone that's been around here for a few years probably has forum knife thread fatigue. this is just a survey about folder preferences with the forum as the sample.

Correct! Just for fun and, possibly, knowledge. But mostly for fun. 22 responses already ... cool!

Fun survey, it'll be interesting to see the results. I'm especially curious to see what percentage of folks' knife collection consists of serrated folders—I think Spyderco users are more enthusiastic about serrations than your typical knife guy (or gal), and wouldn't be surprised if it's at least at 5% for the forum (I was a bit surprised to find that almost a fifth of my folders were fully serrated or combo edged knives... I didn't think I had that many).

I look forward to reading the results as a very conflicted person rolling into the new year. Last two acquisitions being a Chap sun and moon and a Yojumbo.

Also was I the only one who tried to select multiple options for justification on a new knife purchase?

that was fun. there were some where i have enough preference to not say no preference, but would be more than happy with multiple choices. i just went with what i like the most. for example, i love the yojimbo and other thick folders i have, and i like a thin blade that slices well too, but the manix is my absolute favorite folder ever, so i chose medium thickness. i'm glad spyderco has a wide variety of choices, because apparently i like most of them. i'm curious to see the results.
