New knife request

#1

Post by TJ_Hack3r »

Was talking with a friend about some newer Spyderco releases, and I scrolled past on of my favorite knives, the Yojumbo. I love the way the knife looks and name is the cherry on top. Then I noticed something..... A 4 inch blade? I thought it was bigger. You'd think that a knife called the YoJumbo would be massive.

So, I have a request. A 5.5 inch blade..... The YoWumbo.

Personally, I'd love to see it with the dark purple handle scales.

Hi TJ_Hack3r,

Welcome to our forum.

Frankly, we're not likely to make anything that large in a folder. We've done a few very large folders, but our customer base does not seem to be drawn to them for carry.

I carry the Tatanka on occasion, but that's an awful lot of knife with a 5-ish inch blade. The shape of the Yojumbo takes up a lot of pocket space already. I don't think I'd carry a bigger version of it, and I usually advocate for more 5 inch blades.

I would love to see a sheepsfoot version with a less tactical handle, call it the “Bigfoot”

^ Yup. Cold Steel Frenzy if you want a long wharncliffe blade. Comes in pretty decent S35VN.

A problem I see with a folding knife that large is that the handle is also quite long. I can carry a fixed blade, or near enough. Of course, fixed blades are illegal in some places. Cold Steel is probably the best bet.
