He is in the Mountains so yeah it can get that cold for sure.

It's in the high 30's low 40's here in Raleigh today.

Supposed to drop down into the low teens later on today though.

Yeah, Jim is right, but I'm not in Asheville. Haven't been there in years. I need to change that.
I'm a lot higher elevation than Asheville now..
I'm in the highest living elevations east of the Mississippi- the coldest I ever saw it here was -25° without any windchill in I believe it was 1985
It was -32° on Grandfather Mtn that night too - can't remember how cold it got on Mt.Mitchelk though

64F degrees here right now, but will drop to 28 or so tonight with windchill to 20F degrees. The locals are used to much higher temps, so while it sounds funny to people used to living with truly cold winters, this is actually dangerously cold down here.

I know, right? If it gets any colder, I'll have to put on clothes before going out to feed the dogs and chickens. Last week I was in Vegas riding; daytime temps were in the 30's and 40's. Harsh stuff.

We're down to 28 degrees and snow/sleet. Our area has a power outage going on for around 1,500 people. Good thing we have a wood stove!!

By tonight we may have 50 mph winds and -20 degree wind chill!! Really hoping this power comes back on for a majority of the day

I have nothing to complain about. It's only been getting down to somewhere in the 40s at night. But during the daytime, the inside of my house stays colder than the outside. And in the summer, the inside of my house stays hotter than the outside.

I don't have AC, so when I'm not active, I wear lairs of clothing. It's nowhere near as cold as other places (including elsewhere in CA), but it can get cold for here.
