Finally found my Grail Spydie!

Almost 16 years ago in a time that i only owned an endura 3.( long before my manix mania )
I was on the local forum and in its for sale section i got my first glance of the Chinook. And i knew i wanted it!
Problem was i was still in school in those days and i did not have any funds. But I scraped all that i had together and when i send a message to the owner it turned out it was sold only 15 minute before.

It took 13 years for me to see one for sale again and i had my doubts because it was a combo edge and i really wanted the plain edge. After messaging back and fort with the seller i passed on it because the deal became kinda shady.

But now 16 years after it all began its finally here.
And my search i finally over. :cheap-sunglasses :grin-smiling-eyes

So what is you’re grail and do you have it or are you still searching?

That's awesome Apollo! Congrats on finally getting it.

I don't think I have a Grail. I like to try different models. I have been fortunate enough to get most of the models I wanted to try and I know the ones I like. I have about 10 models in my top 5 right now. To much good from Spyderco to pick one for me. I do always like hearing what people's grail is and when they finally get it. I am a little jealous when they find "the one." So congrats to you and thanks for sharing!

Nice looking knife, Congrats Apollo!
I recently acquired a c54gpbn calypso, a recent grail I’ve been after for the past few months. Holy **** does it not disappoint. Any of the calys in their respective size ranges, The 3 and 3.5 I consider my grail pieces as well. Next knife I’m looking to own is a good kopa (basically same platform as the Calys, just a small gents version) these designs perfectly fulfill my needs of Spydie folders just in different size and capabilities in blade length.

Thank you guys! I wonder how common are old spyders in the us? Down here even something in the previous black boxes is deemed almost non existend. And naturely everything even the tinyest bit older gets a high pricetag with it.

The Chinooks look awesome. I've been looking at them since the original, and came really close to trying out the Chinook 4 so I could test the new lock.

I always ended up with the Manix instead mainly because of the blade shape.

Speaking of the Manix, the foliage green C95 was a grail of mine.

Only 600 made, and the folks that have them rarely let go of them. This one was NIB too!

I missed out on it because I didn't hear about it. It released during one of the years I wasn't active here. Missing out on that particular sprint is the main reason I got back into this forum. Wanted to keep tabs on other cool sprints.

My grail knife was the Tim Wegner jr. Took me about 4 or 5 years to find one.

I had the Chinook for a while, very intimidating knife, which was one of the
Reasons I traded it. Congrats on your find.

Congrats Apollo!
It is always an amazing pleasure to find our grails.

My grails are the old Phil Wilson version fixed hunting knife, especially the smaller one the Sprig.

At the time, problem was the same of your I was at school/university, and I lacked of fund.
Now they are quite impossible to find, or their price is similar to a high-end custom knife.

I found an OG green Lil Temp PE Leaf in a gun store, NOS. It was glorious but I hated the clip so much I sold it. Same store had a NOS Toad for sale

That was me with the leaf shape Lil Temp. Absolutely amazing handle but really did not care for the clip.

Yes indeed and it seems where i live at least the Second hand market of older spydies is almost non existent since covid.
There use to be 15/20 pages continuously with rare spydies mixed in now best case scenario 5 pages and most of them are recent models. I hope you find the sprig the feeling is overwhelming when you find something you have searched for so long i am rooting for you!

Thx Brock O Lee! You can say that alright it really is an attractive beast! :beaming-face
The blade is for me really a piece of art! For me Spyderco can bring that style of blade back anytime doesn’t even matter what steel , lock , … it is it just to good looking. :beaming-Image

I’ve got a bunch of Spydies that I didn’t know were grails until I got them.

But getting a grail before the fact is something very different. I admire your patience.
