Pretty cool if you ask me!
Would be even cooler if we see uncoated and partially serrated versions too!
I keep adding words, probably because I subconsciously really want one, but I think this is the best looking Lum Tanto that’s not a fixed blade.
Which reminded me that the absolute coolest thing would be to see the fixed blades brought back too!

No my favorite colors but these things are so subjective and I know a lot of people will be into it. And I’m with you on resurrecting old designs, it’s a pretty cool thing Spyderco and BHQ have been doing!
Just noticed it’s on their website too:

I’ve always wanted one, but in an uncoated blade and after tax and shipping I’d be looking at around $320. There are a few Spyderco models I’m wishing for in certain combos that I’d buy, but with how pricing has been going, I’ve been focusing on hunting out some customs I’m after.
I understand inflation and all the nuances, but I feel like a lot of folks may be dissuaded by recent pricing.

Wow! This one’s a surprise!
After the warped blade debacle with their last Lum Tanto exclusive, Sal said it was unlikely they’d ever run this model again but I’m glad they decided it deserved another exclusive run!!!
I Love the color combo but unfortunately I won’t be in the market for this one. Id rather save my pennies for the seconds sale. It would be perfect paired with the recent DLT Tuff exclusive though.

If I was a full time collector I'd be all over it, but I'd rather have a DLC M4 blade with the jade G10 for a hundred dollars less.
I forget, did they already do one of those ?

They did not, but I totally agree with you. I'd be all over that one as well.

Their first Lum Tanto exclusive used Jade G10 and Laminated SUS420/HAP40.

There it is. Laminated HAP40 was probably a good choice for a Tanto.

Agreed.
I'd love it better as a tool steel, but this is still a pretty sweet combo.

AFAIK it was a deliberate decision back then to go with the hap40 laminate instead of the M4 despite using the bladehq / M4 colour scheme.
I wish I could get one of these as I already missed out on the hap40 ones... But aside from probably being gone in a minute, the cost of shipping plus import makes this a no go for a knife that is just cool and collectible.
(for those wondering, all inclusive this would cost me about 400 bucks)

That’s pretty brutal…. It’s a shame that some members of our community have to pay so much more than others for the same knives.

Countries Tax on msrp instead of map its the big flaw of that system.
The real value of the knife is what US citizens pay in there stores or dealers. But because spyderco has that system of map and msrp , it creates a loophole for all other countries around the world to increase there income on purchases. So they take the msrp (instead of the map)and put taxes on that then include shipping and 3th party profits and a knife you guys in the us buy for 150$ costs 200-250$ here.
Then for some reason the spyderco’s made in seki are even worse. They’re taxed even more heavily it seems. They are so many of the higher class seki spydies that have a price tag way higher than the taichung spydies. For example. Most taichung models like Canis , amalgam , watu to name a few are in my country prices between 230 and 275 € If you take higher class seki knives like the chinook 4 , lil temperance 3 they are around 350€ the new lil temperance 3 LW will be 300€ so its clear that there is something terribly wrong there…
Now bless Sal and Erik for trying to keep prices down abroad in many ways that even costed them very much money for almost no difference in the end.
But the only way they can really help the customers outside the US is to remake the map/msrp system.
But for some reason nobody wants to look in that direction…
( So i guess that system is sacred for Spyderco ? Because i know its not a legal issue because CRK and Benchmade all cost about the same in the US and In Europe and work with a fixed price system )

Coated blade = hard pass from me, sorry..
I love my HAP40 Lum, especially after getting rid of the petrified snot scales and getting custom Mopane wood ones, with better fit and finish than the OEM :)
