How many knives do you normally carry on you?

Do you carry more or less when spending time outdoors -- backpacking, camping, bushcrafting, etc.?

Almost always 2, something small like my Chaparral in my 5th(watch) pocket then something a little more substantial in my primary pocket.

1 minimum, 2 normally but 3 typically as of late.
The new neck knife (subway bowie) has been on my neck consistently since I got it. So now 2 in pocket, Ladybug and a bigger folder and the neck knife make 3.
Then I have a truck knife thats always in the truck, I have a bag knife that is always in my bag that I carry to work, etc. I'm never far from a knife really....

I used to think I needed to carry multiple, but it's overkill and just looking for reasons to carry extra. I carry my main EDC and a SAK (which is used as pretty much everything BESIDES a knife)

Usually 8 or so. :rofl

Added 3 since this photo. bread knife, boning knife and petty.

Just 1 outside of work. Anytime I carry multiples I never find I have enough uses to justify it so I go back to 1. Carrying more is just dead weight to me.

When I work : 3 to 4

Victorinox Compact and Minichamp at all times in my pouch
Either a Dragonfly or a Ladybug/Manbug
A cool slipjoint with titanium and wood for lunch break

When I do not work : usually 2
A small to medium size folder and a bigger one
If I'm building stuff or making knives or something like that, there is a big chance one is PE and the other SE.

K390 Manbug in the 5th pocket is nearly a constant at home or work, paired with a baby banter at work or larger folder outside of work. Interested in adding a smaller multitool.

ZDP DF2 and K390 Endela. I occasionally substitute an N5 for the Endela and often have a ladybug in my 5th pocket.

I guess I technically carry two knives most of the time I'm out working or just out & about: my main folding knife (almost always a Spyderco), and the knife in a Leatherman pliers-based multitool (either a Skeletool CX or a Charge TTi). I rarely use the knife in the multitool, though, I carry a multitool for the drivers & the pliers & wirecutters (and in the case of the Charge, the saw & the file).

If I'm backpacking/camping, I additionally carry a mid-sized fixed blade (usually a Spyderco Schempp Rock, a Ka-bar BK7, or a Cold Steel Recon Tanto). Something that can be used for camp chores with enough blade length to competently clear brush, but not so big that it weighs my pack down.

I carry a SAK, with two blades, nearly all the time, when I leave the house. And very often but not as often, as the SAK, I carry an additional knife, most of the time a Spyderco.

So I guess, normally I carry two knives.

Typically 2 for EDC
Small to medium sized folder in back pocket (DF2 most of the time).
Small multi tool or utility knife in watch pocket, depending on what my day looks like (a modified SAK cadet most of the time).
It’s a stretch to say I need two knives, I carry the Cadet mostly for its other tools, but the pen blade can on some rare occasions be a nice complement to the wharncliffe DF2 I usually carry. I carry the utility knife as my secondary when I believe I might have to perform stupidly abrasive or damaging cuts.

Outdoor is such a large category and encompasses so many different activities. A very simplistic summary could look something like this:
Small game hunting, day hikes & SL/UL. backpacking: 1
Big game hunting, fishing, “bushcrafting”, camping: 2

For EDC I only count what’s in my pockets, while for outdoor I count everything I bring along.

Usually just one. Two or more if fishing or hunting.
