Just showing off some new 3d printed scales I received from Honest Builds. Ignore the scratch. I'm pretty sure I did that when I fumbled it while assembling it.

Yes, 3d printed from copper infused plastic filament.

Neat!

I'm not sure the filament's actually copper infused. I've always thought of it as copper color. They even make a silk version that's shiny

I'm pretty sure he got the texture on the outer/first layer buy using a textured PEI surface. I have PEI build surfaces in both smooth and textured. I've used the textured to get the same finish on other items

Looks like they did a nice job. I'd be interested to know how much they're charging for a set like that. I have some pretty cool filament choices. Still not sure about making 3D printed scales from PLA though. Too much risk of people leaving their knife in a hot car and having the scales warp. They're kind of thin and would be more prone to issues like that versus other items I make

EDIT: looking at the pics again maybe that isn't texture I'm seeing but the filament itself. Hard to tell from the pics. Cool either way

EDIT again: Not sure this is actually what the maker used but ColorFabb makes copper infused filament. Looks pretty cool! Pricey but I may have to try some

It's possible the color is just dye plus some additive like pearlescent or silk. The scales seem brighter than the copper infused filament Sharp Guy linked to above.

How do they feel? I have debated on getting a set for my Native 5.

I have a Native 5 set as well, but I have not installed them yet. I'm curious as to how they will work on the liner-less, washer-less Native 5 LW design. These will go on my Native 5 LC200N Salt.

Edited to add: They feel fine, a little slick, and very light. Some people will miss the aggressive surface of the stock scales.

That's my concern, being slick. The main reason I havent jumped on them yet.
