So I really like the Aqua Salt as a simple, general use fixed blade. Its a great design, good ergos, very nice blade shape/profile, it just works well.

While I love my serrated h1 aqua salt, I cant help but think that I would like a plain edge one in other steel options.

What do you guys think? Would you be interested in an aqua salt if it had other steel options?

Easy one for me, Magnacut. A balanced steel that does not give up much in corrosion resistance seems ideal to expand the Aqua series.

I'd be interested in FFG LC200N with a green handle.

The H1 version is great though. The PE version is the knife where I first experimented with low grit sharpening. Starting by using medium sharpmaker rods instead of fine, then working my way down to x coarse dmt edges, it taught me a lot about which grits work best for slicing the most amount of cardboard between sharpenings.

H1 is also bomb proof so you can really beat it up. I've strapped mine to branches and used it as a makeshift machete and batoned stuff with it for over a decade.

Not to sound like a broken record but the current version works nicely in PE with a thin, coarse edge.

Still would be fun to see other steels!

I still don't have one, because I can't find one with a satin blade and yellow handle, either edge. The blacked-out one looks great, but for outdoor activities I like bright knives.

Back to the OP, my answer is 1) Vanax, 2) MagnaCut, and 3) LC200N. Since Vanax is a non-starter for Spyderco, add H2 to the end of the list.

MagnaCut.

Aquasalt seems like more likely to get used as a dive knife than a folder. I’d prioritize the corrosion resistance. I *think* H1>LC200N=MagnaCut. I assume H2 = H1, but only time will tell.

I have a new serrated Aqua Salt en route from KnifeCenter right now, and I’m looking forward to testing it next week. I own a dozen or so H1 Salt knives, but all are SpyderEdge. Either LC200N or MagnaCut would be a great option for plain edge. I have quite a few knives in LC200N, but have yet to try the MagnaCut (though it looks quite promising). I’d love to see the yellow handle come back as an option in the future.

That’s too bad…but perhaps a regular production fixed blade ‘survival/bushcraft’ in Magnacut is possible? Seems like there would be a lot of demand for this type of knife.

NO! Say it ain't so! This is a great knife, one of the best out there. I'd hate to see it go away. I'd rather see it get some new options.

I’m glad that I ordered one when I did! It’s a wonderful design. I missed the first run (when the yellow handle was available) because finances were tight at the time, so I was very pleased when the Aqua Salt was re-released. Is there any chance you might do an Aqua Salt 2 in the future? I remember Mike Janich saying that the model has been popular with military servicemen. An Aqua Salt 2 might be a good opportunity to use MagnaCut in a fixed blade.

I agree and would love to see this come back in magnacut. If the molds are shot, maybe that’s an indication of it being a good seller?

I have one, PE.
It is a great knife and it saddens me to know it may be discontinued.
I'd like to have it available in MagnaCut or other salt line steel.

RIP Aqua Salt.

Wow... I was hoping for a possibility of more and found out they might be going away.

Well I just bought a Fish Hunter and a backup Aqua Salt.

I live in a beach town and go out on my buddys boat fairly often. All of my salts get used but the fixed blade on my dry bag is always the Aqua Salt. Its just the one I prefer over the other options.

If it does get discontinued, then I will certainly be making a thread for an Aqua Salt 2. Full tang might be cool. Lc200n or magnacut. I like the entire package of the aqua salt but for me its handle shape is its biggest selling point.

I would hate to see it get discontinued and not get a second version.
