The Completely Unnecessary Military Appreciation Thread!

This is the place to post all of those Military Model 1's before they are displaced by the coming Military Model 2!
Really, I just hope to see a bunch of cool Military Model 1's and sprints that don't get enough love here on the forum. We all know that the Military Model 1 has been neglected the last few years and will now have competition/be made obsolete by the upcoming Military Model 2.
We also know that there is a ton of love for the Military and that it has been used hard in many variations for decades all over the world.
Let's see them!
Please observe all satire in this post...

My only Military Model 1...
I really do love this knife, and wouldn't want to see anything other than the pocket clip position changed, but the Millie 2 reaction or fear, seems over blown.
Seriously, let's see all of the Military Models that have been used hard or unique examples that many newcomers may not even be aware of.

This is the first left hand Military 1 run from 2009 . I was gifted this knife and would like to keep that part private . I love this knife above all knives in my collection and am proud to have been part of the group on the Forum that pushed to create the left version . I am also grateful that Spyderco still produces this model and continues to be a success to lefty’s globally. MG2

I think one more Military thread and I'm going to run away and join the circus.
Here's a pic anyway

Yeah, for one I am really loosing track of what was said when and why by whom...
, and that can be a bit annoying.
On the other hand it shows how strongly people feel about this model - generally, "1" or "2" or both - which is nice too see!

My favorite Spyderco, and my EDC for 3 years and counting. Absolutely love the R.I.L. on a Military.

tip up BG42/CF Military
Put that together around 2009 IIRC. Glad we have a factory tip up option now.
CPMD2 sprint swapped into a digicamo handle, given a stupidly thin edge and a patina.
My current Military, and the time it went into the Atlantic:

So I'm sipping a Terrapin High & Hazy IPA after a full moon night run on the beach. Got my Military clipped IWB in my board shorts.
Oops.
I meant to bring my SE LC200N Pacific Salt.
But I instinctively reached for my Military, and didn't realize my mistake until 2 hours into the drive.
Oh well.
Then I made another oops.
Went swimming in the ocean with it clipped IWB by accident. So used to carrying it tucked behind my right hip IWB that I forgot it was there.
Then I made a third oops.
Meant to rinse it out with fresh water, but was so distracted by the days activities I didn't remember until now.
Anyways, here's the results of being 100% submerged in salt water for an hour, then clipped to salty, wet board shorts for 7 hours:
corroded lock interface
dried salt on the DLC and in the pivot - very gritty action
Rusty bevel
The only rust I found on the DLC area. It rubbed off completely with my thumb.
That's all the corrosion I found giving it a once over without the tools to break it down. I'll give it a full cleaning once I'm home.
Not bad all said and done. Between this and my
DLC M4 Manix corrosion experiment I have no idea how DLC's corrosion resistance boosting properties aren't more widely accepted.
Trying to find pictures of my old single liner S60V Millie, which was my first favorite Spyderco and the knife that got me into them

With this thread’s intended satire in mind, I give you my OK Boomers of the knife world.
So sad to have no more gas in the tank, to have been cast into the shadows of something not yet released. What weaklings!
But I love you for being quaint.

Thank you for doing that. It’s my only dedicated lefty knife and I will have it forever, so thank you again, to all of you who pushed for this.
