Do the plants need to be living for this thread? :thinking

Did some fossil hunting this past weekend while out camping. A neat "pay to dig" place right by Florissant, CO and just outside the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument there. 34 million year old plants, seeds, bark and maybe a bug were found.

Here were my 2 really neat finds:
Redwood Foliage:

An "extinct genus of the beech family" got lucky and got the top and bottom of it:

Totally awesome for any age! They provide the tools and plenty of shale to split apart. You can keep everything you find and find things you will. Lots of stuff. Go see the Florissant Fossil Bed National Monument first to learn about the area and what you will find, then go to Florissant Fossil Quarry. As the owner said, you will go there as fossil hunters and leave as fossil owners.
