I'm no flowerologist, but I shoot a fair number with my super fancy five year old iPhone X. We grow many plants and flowers in our yard, and I also enjoy those that I stumble upon in the wilderness. Over the past decade, I've become more interested in finding native species in the wild, and then growing them at home. It's exciting to find a new flower, or to see how the palette of colors changes as the seasons progress.

Here are a few pictures from the past month.



Calochortus splendens, in the wild. Native to the area, uncommon. This one is flowering in the wild now, and other species should start flowering as we get closer to summer.



Red flax in the yard.



Matilija Poppy (Romneya), in the yard. Also known as Fried Egg Poppies. Native to the area.



Cranesbill in the yard.
