Dragonfly pivot screw

#1

Post by 911rsr »

I love the DF, but the small pivot screw head (diameter) and the washer ,don't like it at all. Anyone knows if it's possible to get anywhere larger (head diameter same as washer cca. 7mm) pivot screw ? ,and not taller then existing pivot screw. It would be great to find pivot barrel and have bigger head diameter screws on both site. Anyone have any idea ?

No idea where to find such a screw as I've never looked for one. I guess I haven't been motivated to look since I've never had an issue with the factory setup. I carry a DF2 every day.

My biggest issue with these (and Ladybugs) is that it's very easy to twist the D bolt and round out the D shape of the molded FRN, and then you basically end up with a pinned pivot that won't come apart and even if you did get it apart, since the D bolt spins in the FRN you can't really tighten or loosen it unless you cut a screwdriver slot on the dome side. I have a Dfly like this and had a Ladybug like it years ago. Now I'm paranoid about using any thread locker on the pivot screws, and now I also have a Ladybug Salt that's missing the pivot screw because....you guessed it, it fell out.

Vibratite a no go as well?

Teflon/plumbers tape is another option possibly in that you control the tightness with how many times you wrap it around the threading

I did not realize that could be an issue on the D'fly like it is on the Urban.

I'm not disputing that this could be an issue. But, I've carried the same ZDP DF2 for over a year now as well as a Ladybug and never had to or felt the need to disassemble either. But given the small size of either, could see it happening.

There you are. Don't take it apart and you don't create problems.

z1r----Beautiful collection , I have 3 DF ZDP and 2 more DF ZDP coming end of week (ZDP sickness) definitely would get one in K390 , anyway I have no problem with those pivot screws, but I just would like the bigger head diameter to fill the gap I think It would look much better.

Evil D---- I don't put any thread locker either and the screw getting always lose, I'm tightening the screw every day.

I havent seen or heard of any DF pivot screws with slightly bigger heads,, I can see what you mean by the little gap around the screw head. I notice on the other side with the dome there is this little washer, if you could get another one of those you could probably slip it in to make it look a bit more tidy?
