It sounds like they wouldn't let him carry it, and he had to throw it away.

Re: Only thing worse than losing a knife
That does suck, but I’d say the act of losing it not on purpose is still worse. At least when you’re the one getting rid of it you have time to prepare yourself and rationalize what’s about to happen, and say ah well this sucks, but It’ll be fine I have to do what I have to do then I’ll replace it, then give it a kiss goodbye. But loosing it randomly and it falling out of your pocket and skip into a nearby storm drain. Now that’s a breakdown for me

That absolutely blows. Although I wouldn't attempt to enter any sporting event, etc., even with something as innocuous as a tiny SAK Classic.

Yes, had to toss it or no entry and was at the event for work with clients
Re: Only thing worse than losing a knife
Sorry to hear you lost your knife.
Sometimes people just forget they have a little knife on their person. It’s easy to do if it lives on a key ring or in a wallet or even in a watch pocket.
I constantly forget I’ve got a Dragonfly iwb.

Now I understand!
Man, I am really sorry for you.
Knife laws / restrictions almost always are just crazy ... though, a Ladybug IS of course one of the most scary killer-blades one can imagine

That’s terrible, Twins! Not sure I could have done it.

Re: Only thing worse than losing a knife
I’m too stubborn, I wouldn’t toss it. I would go hide it somewhere outside the event venue and retrieve it on my way out after. Actually I went to a Redbull event in Boston years ago and had to do exactly that. There’s a risk it won’t be there when you go back for it but I’d rather take that risk than throw it away.

That's too bad. On the bright side, at least it wasn't a really expensive knife.twinboysdad wrote: ↑Tue Apr 05, 2022 2:28 pmIs having to throw it in trash yourself, up yours Augusta National! Ladybug Hawkbill RIP. Replacement already ordered

Let's not talk about France then !
I'm sorry this happened, must feel like a dilemma for a second when the non-choice presents itself.

This would have been my response as well and has been at past concerts/festivals, although I was not among work clients.
I certainly would have tried to slip away for a minute to stash it in bushes/dirt or somewhere inconspicuous...

That's a bummer to hear, glad you'll have a new one soon!
So it goes.

Re: Only thing worse than losing a knife
Had to go to court one day to testify for something ridiculous for my company, you know, the customer is always right thing?
Actually got through the doors and then an officer scanned me, had a Caly 3.5 in my pocket, wasn’t given any options other than I couldn’t come in. My car was parked probably a 1/4 to a 1/3 of a mile away. They had just put fresh needles in the beds and around the trees, found a great spot and buried it in the pine needles when no one was looking.
Sorry you had to give up your Ladybug, sorta sets a bad tone for what should be a fun and entertaining day instead of being made to feel like a criminal!

Re: Only thing worse than losing a knife
I like the idea of burying it some place, and retrieving it later.
