My S35VN Tenacious is one of best Spydies I ever got, concerning fit, finish and built quality.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

they compare very well and are a great value. i've got two value folders from china, the resilience and the astute. they are both great, and even the budget steel (8cr13mov) holds up better than what i've experience from other makers. you can't go wrong with them.

The finish is not quite as nice, but they are very robust and well-made knives.

my experience with the resilience, astute, and a coated tenacious a friend bought are that they are just as good, if not better than seki knives, about on par with golden, and below taichung when it comes to fit and finish. that's not to dump on seki, but to say they've all been really great and outstanding when you consider the cost.

I would tend to agree with you that they are at least as good as the Seki knives F&F wise; but I don't think they are on par with Golden.

They're great knives though, especially for the money.

I have only handled one, the Persistence. I bought it as a gift and got to handle it for a while before I gave it away. I would echo what others have said. As far as the fit and finish goes, I would say it's better than my Seki knives. I would not put it on the same level as Golden or Taichung.

I’m gonna grab some Spyder throwers sometime over spring/summer. They are left hand carry too, and for less than a hundred you get 3 knives!

Im a big Spyderco fan but Im also gonna call it how I see it.

They are definitely not on the same level as Seki and no where near the level Golden is.

If it didn't say China on the blade I doubt anybody would know any better.
I'd recommend the combo edge G10 Tenacious or Emphasis.

I am not placed at all to make a general judgement since I am solely talking about my single one Tenacious S35VN. But that one is better than my Seki folders (which are not bad at all too) fit and finish wise and at least as good if not better than any Golden knife I had/have.
Concerning this particular Tenacious variant I can recall several posts where folks felt like I do about this.

/ And why shouldn't Chinese Spydies be at least as good as Seki made ones?!
- Spyderco would certainly only work with really good Chinese makers, and probably the Chinese Spydies cost just less because production cost are a lot lower in China, but not the quality... ?

Totally of topic, but I so wish Spyderco would also make throwers better suited for no spin and half spin throwing. The current Spyder Throwers are just too blade heavy for being ideal for that.. though certainly perfect for traditional spin throwing. I happen to be totally into no- and half spin though.

they also all go through golden for quality control at some point before they're approved for production.
