I got another Helle knife today. It's the model called Arv. 3.4 inch triple laminated stainless steel. The handle is alternating curly birch, stag horn, and leather. The contruction of the handle is done very well. The black leather spacers are raised just ever so slightly, as to give a bit of a ridged feel in my hand.
It's a nice handy size. Not large but not small. And also very sharp. Fits in between my Temagami and Mandra.
You're on a Helle roll...and as Tom said your choices are affecting a gravitational pull on many of us. Those are three VERY nice blades. Congratulations.
I like that. I have to check it out. I still think we need to ask Larrin what H3LSS is.

According to GPKnives data:
"H3LSS: Helle Triple Laminated Stainless Steel, similar to Japanese San Mai, has tough 18/8 stainless cladding on the outside protecting the high carbon stainless core. Helle uses a proprietary steel similar to Sandvik 12c27. This delivers razor sharpness, high hardness, exceptional toughness and good corrosion resistance."
Seems to be Helle's trade name for the steel.

Well, to throw a monkey wrench into the works (spanner to you folks in the UK) there is an LSS steel, but it doesn't say H3. So, I wondered if it were their trade name for that steel. https://zknives.com/knives/steels/steel ... hrn=1&gm=0

I could be wrong, but I think the H3LSS breaks down to this: Helle 3 layer Laminated Stainless Steel.

You are likely right. I didn't look at it that way.
