Okay...Sal made a crack about me "showing my age" but didn't tell me when my Copilot was made.
It has brass liners under the scales...and that's the reason why I bought it because I never saw a Spyder "look" like that!
Can somebody help me out with when "she" was made? Mahalo!
Copilot with brass liners?
Recoil,
Thanks for the welcome and the info man! Wow, it's from the first batch of Co-Pilots ever made then? Oh well...looks like "she's" leaving my fanny pack and headed for the collection box! now what to replace her with?..Probably my Dragonfly. Had I known she was one of the first, I'd have babied her a bit more...my Co-pilot has seen a lot of use but she has never let me down and is still in top shape! Thanks again Dave! God bless man!

Daywalker: you gotta get the Spyderco Story book. Has everything you wanted to know about the history of Spydies, and is a great read.
As for replacing the Copilot,an SS Dragonfly is just the ticket. Pointer blade, larger handle, and a choil and thumb rest for when you need to put a little oomph into it. After I picked up a PE,I got a second for my collection and retired my Copilot. VW also posted an excellent review on his.

Hi Daywalker. didn't mean to ignore you. It was, as mentioned, an early piece and only a short run of 1200 were made. Then we went to the all stainless version which was disco'd a couple of years ago.
The stainless Pegasus is also a nice replacement, also disco'd. i'm workin' on a stainless Navigator II but we're at least 6 months away.
The new Cricket in all SS is proving to be a very nice carry piece.

I have two of the originals, pe one used hard for about ten years finally retired it. Other was gifts for my groomsmen (and one for myself)se, with wedding date 9-8-90, and initials> This was a very classy knife with the brass liners. Also have a pe with only ss scales that I recently replaced w/ a sspe dragonfly, great little knife flat ground ATS-55 more ergonomic for sure. Also got the Spyderco story with order, great book. Why did I wait sooo long? Sal if your listening, posted this on the Dragonfly updates, would rather have the clip changed to a tip down carry. Spyder drop, plus knife sits lower in pocket without advertising as much what it is I'm carrying on the clip. Co-pilot seems to expose just the pivot end. Sheeple can't really tell what it is as easily. Also great news on the SS navigator, i'll have to get that when available. Thanks
Thanks everyone! And now who's showing their age Sal? Just kidding! It's funny you mentioned the cricket because the FRN Pe Cricket just went into my fannypack today!I can't wait for the SS version as the Cricket was one of my most favorite models...a tiny civilian if you will...Hey Mr. Glesser, keep in touch with Mr. Jhones...'specially next week okay?
God bless everyone and mahalo!
