Great Owl shots , they are one of my favorite birds . MG2

Other than macro, during the fall/winter/spring seasons here in Minnesota, I like to chase owls and other raptors with my camera. Here's a few shots of owls from over the years. -Chad

Very cool shots, Chad. Sometimes I hear the owls at night, but they're rarely seen other than a shadowy silhouette flying into the dark. I'll attach a couple owl pics. They're not wild; they were pets sitting on a perch.

A buddy is kind of like Doctor Doolittle. He loves all the animals. He built a giant aviary next to his house. One day I went over and he wanted to show me his owl. It had been hit by a car, and he rescued it off the highway adjacent to his field. He told me to stick out my arm, and the owl would come and land on it. I'm no dummy, and I know that owls have giant talons. I asked, "Won't it hurt?" He looked at me and said, "Well yeah." So I stuck out my arm, and the owl flew over and landed on me. Sure it hurt, but how many times in your life do you get the opportunity to have an owl land on your arm?

Hard timber Buck . Nice rack but body weight is not what we would normally see in central Illinois . Area harvested has a lot of hard timber and fewer sources of corn and soybeans to gorge on . Buck looks to be around three years old . Dan

Illinois whitetail have a reputation. All bigger than what you find in Florida.

Illinois whitetail have a reputation. All bigger than what you find in Florida.

It also has to do with climate . The farther you go North the bigger the body , Deer need to have a fat reserve to help them keep warm and diet drops off in winter . Illinois Deer also taste great because of diet ! Ha ha ! Dan
