This is the perfect model for those who wanted the Cruwear version but also weren't in love with the micarta and want to mod the scales, since this will have the standard PM2 liners and will accept any of the currently available scales out there. On the other hand the micarta version would be much better for the DIY guy to make his own scales if that's your thing.

I’m not against it and you make all valid points that I agree with.

I guess I was just surprised that Spyderco chose to announce these exclusives, when in then past they have often left that decision to the dealer that commissioned them.

Yes they did in September 2018 (C81GPTN2). Also with a DLC blade in May 2019 (C81GPTNBK2).

$158 for a Cru-wear PM2 seems pretty good. That purple is so gaudy that it's kind of cool, I'm thinking I'll probably be in on this for my first PM2.
