Security concern
Security concern
Hello.
I am grateful that I purchased Chaparral. It was time to have an EDC knife. I removed the clip and carry it loose since I prefer an unconcealed knife.
I do however have a security concern: the tip and the space between the scales . I'm a little worried that the tip is going to puncture my pocket, since the steel ends right before the tip (I'm considering the closed knife). Is there any chance it's going to puncture my pocket? I have tried to simulate that a part of my pocket manages to get into that space using paper and the tip can pierce the paper with little force . Is there any way for this to happen in mu pocket and any way to prevent it? Any model that does not have this security issue? I'm pretty worried, a few millimeters of missing steel could put me at a security risk.

Re: Security concern
Certain designs can be better or worse with this concern.
You can always drop the spine/ lower the tip. This moves the tip down into the handle more.

Don't wear any pants. No pockets = problem solved! Only downside is you'll have to get more inventive with your concealment technique.

Please post a picture of what you are talking about. Your description is confusing.

The tip is not protected by the steel on the side.

Re: Security concern
File down the spine near the tip. Or use a sander/grinder if you want to take off a lot of material but you have to be very careful.damiand wrote:How can I do this in Chaparral?VooDooChild wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 5:14 pmCertain designs can be better or worse with this concern.

You are, in a sense, reshaping the blade, but all you are really doing is moving the tip down. Which will also move the tip further away from the opening in the end of the handle.

Re: Security concern
No one wants to tell him to file down the kick?
I still think scissors are the best option for our friend.

So it goes.
Re: Security concern
Don't do this. Yes, this advice is helpful, but I mean you, personally, should not do this. I think you're in over your head.VooDooChild wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 5:36 pmFile down the spine near the tip. Re: Security concern
because, if you can't open a pocket knife without cutting yourself, you definitely shouldn't be operating a power tool (or even a hand tool), especially in the vicinity of your knife blade.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Security concern
Yeah, I don't know how to do it. Whenever I try to open my Chaparral it closes on me and my finger gets caught. It seems that I have to use more force but I don't want to break my knife.

Re: Security concern
I don't see what the issue is here. Unless the OP's knife is somehow drastically different than mine there's nothing to be concerned about
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
Re: Security concern
Grind all the sharp corners and edges off , just to be sure.
A metal pocket liner would also be a good idea.
