Chaparral with Lynch clip

I have a pre-CQI Chap LW and have struggled with the clip shifting, losing tension, etc. Decided to give the Lynch clip a try.

This was about $30 shipped. So far I like it a lot. I think it sticks out a bit more than a standard Spyderco hourglass clip but it works really well and fits the Chap perfectly. No hotspots etc.

Aesthetically I think the wire clip is awesome on this model but I don’t think I’ll be going back. Maybe if an SE Chap comes out I’ll give the wire clip another shot as I’m sure it’s better with the CQI.

Hello friend, the real question is...is it squishy with that deep carry clip??

I love my lynchnw clip on my chap lw. I don't even use the wire clips anymore only lynchnw wire replacement clips. The flat prongs really nake a difference

I have a Lynch clip on order for similar reasons, so I'm glad to see it's performing well for you. The stock clip is featherweight and sleek, but I'll never turn down a good excuse to buy anodized ti.

That LNW clip looks really nice on the Chap!

For some reason I thought you were part of the "fun" with that one member asking all the crazy questions and always mentioning he was a Chaparral owner. I guess not!

Oh, lol, that guy was a trip. Was he asking about squishy clips? :winking-tongue I couldn't keep up with all his nonsense.

Glad you gave this a try and thank you for the info and photos. I too own a pre-CQI Chap and the clip shifting drives me crazy. I need to give this a try. Thanks!

I am glad I got post CQI Chaparrals. I didn't know this was an issue. I had a similar issue on my Para 3 LW, and it drove me crazy. Glad you found a good alternative and thanks for sharing.

I did the same on my Chaparral, I guess mine is the last CQI since it's only a year old but even then. The wire clip had a tendency to "roll" from right to left while using it.

It has only been even more of a charm to carry it since the lynch clip was added.

I tried with no clip too, it's pretty nice ! Let's you really enjoy how slim this knife is.

Be careful not to cut yourself, I hear that's a real concern unclipped.

As with most backlocks, the detente is strong enough to make this not a concern. At least in my estimation.

It was a joke concerning damiand's latest thread.

Oh wow this is really nice. I keep meaning to get this clip, but then I forget anytime I'm near a computer. Does it help with the clip loosening/shifting?

So far it’s holding tight. There’s quite a bit of tension on the prongs so I don’t think the screw will loosen easily.

Wish this had a Spyderco logo on it. That’s the main downside.

I think this is the first time I've actually considered getting a Lynch clip for any of my knives. I've liked the stock Spyderco clips well enough on everything so far, except the Chaparral I just got.

I don't know what it is, but it just seem snaggy, like it doesn't quite land on the logo right. So, it's a bit rough in/out of the pocket. When I carry it, I've just been dropping it loose, which isn't too bad since it's still pretty small/light. But, I would still like it to have a functional clip.

This one looks good, and also doesn't look too deep-carry. I'm not really a fan of "disappear in the pocket" clips, so this one has my attention.

Is that the satin or polished finish?

Polished.

I’m similar, I don’t like deep carry clips so much and the Spyderco clips are solid. I’ve managed to get used to the wire clips but don’t prefer them. So this is the first time I’ve bought a 3rd party clip.

Nice. I'd like to get a Chap someday. I like the Raffir Noble scales, but the Bird's eye maple is beautiful too!

The raffir noble is interesting but the FRN is I think the best FRN handle Spyderco has done on a small knife.

Wish an SE version would come out…
