I'd like to do a pre-emptive strike on the phrase: fourth shot.

Honestly? Every catch phrase and trending non-word invented by the little mouth breathers for the last 25+ years. Buncha punks.

One I remember from my childhood that is already long-dead was “”Aw reet!” or “Ah reet!” It was some weird, supposedly “cooler” way to exclaim, “All right!” Luckily, it seemed to disappear as quickly as it had appeared. This was back when I was in 3rd grade (late 1971/early ‘72). I don’t know if it was something that was once widespread, or if it was only among a few kids at my elementary school. All I remember is I started hearing other kids saying it for awhile, then I didn’t hear them saying it anymore. I’m probably the only person on earth who still remembers it.

"..feel like.."

As in,

"I feel like this thread is cathartic for its contributors."

When did "I think/believe/etc.." become passe?

I'm not a ticktock user but I still end up watching (or mostly hearing or being shown) a lot of videos off there one way or another, and it may not be a word or phrase but as far as I'm concerned that "oh no no no no no" so can crawl back under the rock of obscurity it slithered out from under and die. I am so sick of hearing that crap. Everyone around me all day long is watching videos and it's either that song clip or some mumble rap song. I think the point of this entire thread is that you can have too much of a good thing and if it isn't good to begin with it's already too much.

Not sure if this is, like, the most popular word to ban
or just, like, the most popular word in the Netherlands.
Like, something may have been lost in translation, you know.

‘Prikspijt’, which translates for ‘regretting getting a vaccination,’
was voted the Word of the Year 2021 in the Netherlands
after a social media campaign by famous Dutch dictionary-maker, Van Dale.

Oh. That reminds me. I want to ban "like" and "you know".

I heard it on the radio this morning driving into work "It's raining cats and dogs out there"

I mean really, how did this ever become a thing, and WHY!? Though some obituaries would be interesting when those St Bernard's started falling!

I'll keep it to knives.

"Buttery smooth"
"Bank vault lockup"
"Drop shutty"
"Good to go"

I find it hilarious that people use these terms quantitatively, as if they had finite definitions.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

"Trust me dude!" has been phased out in favour of "Don't take my word for it dude, look it up for yourself...", dude remains in honor of the city slickers of yesteryear.

" And.....Go!" As in when trying to kick off a thread on whatever subject is important to the person.

and,

"nuff said"

I don't take well to being barked at or commanded. These seem like lazy attempts at that. Have I said I don't like lazy either?

I first saw “‘nuff said,” back in the early ‘70s, in some of the Marvel Comics. Stan Lee would put that in some of the footnotes the Marvel comics used to have. When I first started seeing it, I kept wondering who “‘nuff” was, and why did he say it. Then I figured it out. 😜

“We need to have a national conversation about…..”

Translates to “you need to sit there, shut up and let me vent my spleen at you”.
