In my pocket right now is a Shrade Walden 8OT stockman. 1095 high carbon blades and springs. They stopped using the Walden tang stamp in 1974, so this thing is at least that old. It has been used hard and put away wet many times and has never been apart for cleaning. It is still just as tight and snappy as it was when I took it out of the package 50 years ago. Y'all worry way too much.

it's not about worrying for me. i expect different things from a $20 knife than i do from a $100+ knife. there's a reason i prefer salts and am willing to pay a little more for them.

i'm very much looking forward to the magnacut manix lw with screws so i can try a blade swap. even if that doesn't work though, it'll still be fun to put a titanium ball cage in it just because.

I got an email from Blade HQ concerning black handle Manix 2 lwt . They had none in stock but thought they were screw instead of pinned . So not much help at this time . I may contact someone I normally order from soon . MG2

Lol. Plus, it eliminates the need to take things apart and not put them back together right. :winking-tongue

Ok... This new pic on GPknives of a Black DLC Manix 2 Lightweight definitely has screws and the description says it has Torx hardware... So they are trickling out to dealers with screw construction...

Has anyone picked up one of these yet? My local shop doesn't have them with the CQI construction.

I am happy they are going to screwed construction on the lightweight.
I still doubt I would ever take mine apart but it is nice to have that option.

Interesting that they chose to do screws on both sides of the pivot and the pivot insert part (above the pivot). Glad they did, but different than something like the Delica or Endura. More in line with Para 3 in that sense.

Just noticed an SPY27 Manix2 Lightweight with screw construction on a dealers site... checked Spyderco.com... and it looks like all the pics have changed to screw construction with the exception of the Maxamet. I was waiting for the SPY27 Manix2 LW but my wallet is still recovering from the recent influx of amazingness. Good to know they are showing up though.

This is exciting. That’s the only reason I never bought a manix LW. The manix line in general is such a good bang for your buck.

i'm a longtime proponent of the m2lw and i've been waiting a long time for spyderco to change the pins to screws. after finally getting a g10 manix and customizing it though, i'm far less likely to buy more of the lw version. i enjoy the ability to customize the g10 version and the action is a lot better. i still like the lw and will absolutely be getting the magnacut m2lw salt when it's released, whether it is pinned or not, but i'd still prefer the magnacut and spy27 versions to be released in g10.

I think about this post often. It sure needs repeating from time to time.

what's wrong with wanting to be able to take a knife apart to clean it and maintain it? just because you can flush it with oil, doesn't make the practice ideal.

I have noticed price drops on some lightweight models . I wonder if to clear out for screw versions ? MG2
