20+ minutes into trying to buy this and I still can't get anything to load. This is a bad experience. Please upgrade the server for the next one...

Seriously still trying almost 45 min later. This server is broken. My card has been declined twice on the two time it actually tried to go through. I wont bother with any more mules if it's going to be like this.

I tried for over an hour, and when it finally was taking my payment, they ran out. Unbelievable. So much for replacing my shattered MT01...
Oh well, boo hoo! Whining complete.

sorry you did not get yours VWTatoo. What time did they sell out? I got mine to process at 09:08 PSY or 10:08 spyderco time.

I'm lucky, I guess. Only took 67 reloads including 4 "card declined" messages before it went through. Only spent 48 minutes trying.

I can't believe I got my order through (took about 40 minutes). Whew!
I really hope that Spyderco can better prepare next time. Yes, it's just a knife, but still it is frustrating, for both the customer, and for Spyderco I should imagine. Nobody wants to have to deal with crashed/overwhelmed websites.

65 minutes of bated breath! Thought of it like Black Friday. Wouldn't change a thing! Not fun, but an adventure for my first mule, won't be the last!
Thanks Sal for involving us.

I appreciate the opportunity to get this Mule , but there should be some thought of this process in the future . What would be wrong with preorders ? I would gladly pay a head of time . Starting over and over again worrying about getting through was very frustrating. Ordering any knife should not be so painful. MG2

Hi BAMeiser,
Welcome to our forum.
Hey All, I'm sorry it was a hassle. Obviously we'll have to make some changes. I guess there is more demand than we thought.

Thank you Sal and crew, all worth it at the end.
Though it was like 1500 mules rushing the gate at once :)

Are you listening, Spyderco?
For the next Mule, instead of making 500, you'll only need to make 499.

I hear you. Spyderco is doing the enthusiast a big favor offering these up at so low a price so the scramble is insane with the flippers and collectors. They will always be available on Ebay 10 minutes after the drop but sadly 2 or 3 times the price but considering the value it ends up not being too bad even at twice the cost. It is frustrating, I missed out on one before. It is a gamble on Spyderco to make so many but as we see, there is room for higher production but this was a super hot item.

Thank you Sal for the opportunity. Kristi too. I know you good folks out there definitely had a bad day on your end too, but I'm glade that all's well that end's well for most of us here. I sympathize for those who did not get their Mules.
Thanks for also acknowledging that changes ought to be made, especially in the site checkout process. I hope that the checkout on the website can be streamlined to 2-3 pages or less. But ultimately in the end, only you can determine what improvements need to be done.
Thank you once again for the opportunity to experience Magnacut firsthand at a cheap cost and way ahead of the masses. Looking forward to getting mine and put it to test so I can contribute my MC experience to this collective.

Hey Sal,
I made a pretty big stink in the main thread for the mule today. Totally get that supply was limited. My main frustration was the pain with the site itself, the fact that that pain caused a fraud hold on my card (which I resolved), and the length of time it took to get to the point of it being sold out. I was disappointed I didn't get a mule before it sold out, but I was downright annoyed at the pain it took to get to that point.
Anyway, I'm past the annoyance, but I would make an ask, which you can take or leave, that I think it might be time to modernize your e-commerce infrastructure. Yes, I know you probably do the vast vast majority of your sales through your Authorized Dealers and whatnot. But when you do have traffic on your site for things like these mules or the seconds sale, my guess would be that that's probably the subset of your customer base that are truly fanatics. So while an overhaul of the site might not actually draw a lot of revenue, it might actually help strengthen that core base.
But anyway, I'm just rambling. Really love your products and sorry if I was too grumpy in the other thread.
Seth

Let's also not forget the OpFocus program which runs all year round, which could also benefit from having an improved and streamlined ecommerce experience.
