i was talking to a police officer friend of mine about this recently and was saying the problem is laws that are meant to prevent people from breaking laws. for example, it's already against the law to slash a person, stab a person, carve your name into a bathroom stall, etc. rather than just enforcing those laws, we create laws to keep people from being able to commit them. he referred to these as victimless crimes. in other words, if you stab a person, there is a clear victim and a real crime. if you carry a knife that is against the law, there is no victim. the law only exists to limit your freedom. it doesn't protect anyone. there is no victim. unless, of course, you get caught with it and then you become a victim of a law that is meaningless.

Here's a thought. Remember that feller who started putting clips on pocket knives so that they could be concealed? Maybe he's responsible for all this hullabaloo. :winking-tongue Just kidding of course. :zany
