P'Kal availability

I've seen that places have started to restock models that have been sold out for a while. And I was wondering when P'kals might be available again. I know they're not as big of a seller as others in the line up, but they DO sell well enough to be out of stock everywhere.

I have some friends who are interested in a P'kal and Trainer. And I've been wanting a back up for mine. There are only two rgei folders on the market, and the other is even harder to come by than a P'kal :winking-tongue

If and when production of them resumes a black blade P'kal would be awesome as well.

Hi Zrows,

Then are not a big seller, but we keep them in stock for undercover LEO's. There are a number of models that we keep in the line despite low sales because of the reason for making them.

Thanks for the reply Sal :bug-red-white

I'm sure law enforcement is very thankful for the models you keep alive to help keep them alive. Others like myself are thankful too. You and Emerson are the only ones outside of the custom market making rgei folders and trainers. Humorously enough considering Emerson is the other maker, yours is the only one with a wave.

I'm a civilian but I also love the P'Kal. Thanks for keeping this model in the lineup.

I was just thinking about this model and how I always wished I had gotten one.

I really like the P'kal. It took me a while to get one, though, as it is relatively expensive. I do understand why it costs as much as it does: It's a specialist tool, with limited mainstream appeal and a smaller potential market.

Once I got one, though, I decided to go whole hog & grab the trainer as well. I'm no expert, but I do have some training in FMA, and I figured I would get more value (as far as how much "fun" I could have with the design & how much I could learn with it) from having both the live blade & the trainer.

I will also occasionally carry it as a work folder. It's far from ideal in this role—it works best if the clip is switched to the other side so that it can be carried & deployed more conventionally. But it can be pressed into work service in a pinch.

Any updates on availability?

I have someone who is dying for a P'kal for Christmas, and I am at my wits in to find one. Seem to be hard to find even on knife swap forums that I have browsed.

Hi, -c0de-:
Welcome to our forum. I'm sorry to say that the P'kal is still backordered at this time. I don't have an ETA, but there will be more to come. You might consider a gift card as an alternative. Then the recipient could order it when it's back in stock.

We hope you enjoy your time with us!

Will there be an alert on the app when it's available?

Thank you. That is what my fall back plan was going to be.

I did however, after scouring the internet for a while, find a site that claims to have them in stock.

Do you have a list of actual resellers somewhere that I could verify the site is legitimate? The price is on point with what others have it listed as, and I have seen a few reviews of others buying different things from the site, so I believe it legit but would love to verify if at all possible.

Hi, -c0de-:
You can search our Dealer Locator, https://www.spyderco.com/resources/dealer-locator/, but I would also recommend searching the forum. Feel free to post the name of the dealer in this thread and we can let you know if there are any red flags.

Sure!

I didn't see them in the Dealer Location, but I suppose its possible that they might be listed under another name and/or purchased several from a dealer and are reselling.

I didn't want to mention Sooner because of the possibility that the P'kal there is the same one that ZrowsN1s had problems with and sent back. Hopefully they have more than one.

Just a heads up, I posted about this in my other P'kal thread. But SoonerStateKnives only has 1 P'kal. I ordered it from them 2 months ago. When I got it, one of the pivot screws was slightly stripped, the pivot was ridiculously tight, and the handle screw looked over tightened as well. The knife was not right.

SoonerState swore to me that the knife hadn't been previously sold and returned, and said it came from the factory like that, blame Spyderco. (When I returned this knife that is obviously defective they put it back up for sale as new, so draw your own conclusions there).

On top of all this the customer service was just rude. They took it back (I had to eat the cost of shipping both ways), but they were absolutely rude about it. The worst customer service I have ever experienced from a knife dealer.

I would never buy another knife from them, and I sure as heck wouldn't buy that defective P'kal that they list as new either.

-c0de- hope you didn't already buy it. If you did and end up returning it don't let them tell you it wasn't previously returned.

The edge grind was wonky too although that at least looked factory.

I ended up calling the link I originally posted and they said they were waiting on a restock.

I did end up pulling the trigger on the Sooner site, but I haven't heard anything back from them yet.

I guess I will try giving them a call and see if they have it in stock, if it is "new" or "used", and if something doesn't smell right, cancel.

**EDIT:** Just got of the phone. The gentleman I spoke to claimed he had several, I asked if they were all factory new or if any had been returned, and then explained who this was for and it was a Christmas present. I asked if he could personally choose one and inspect it to ensure the quality of the knife, blade being centered, didn't look like a return with any blemishes/marks, etc... and was guaranteed that he would personally inspect and ship out tomorrow. So, we shall see. ::fingers crossed::

I’m very sorry to hear this info . I never knew these issues with Sooner and deeply apologize and never meant to mislead anyone. Guess I will cross that dealer of my list. MG2

KnivesPlus has one for a little more. I'm pretty sure it's a Collectors Club numbered knife though... https://www.knivesplus.com/spydercoknifesp-c103gp.html

Maybe you'll have better luck. I hope you do, hard to find these.
