Hopefully i can get a ticket.

It would be cool if they were planning a virtual one.

The current issue with a lot of events seems to be they need a long lead time to plan the details and the the location can suddenly be subject to a lockdown. So it's tough to go all in when you don't have a crystal ball.

A virtual one is obviously not as in person and connected as the real deal but at least the odds are better that it won't be rained out.

This would be really cool (though I don´t know how hard it is to actually get such a ticket).
Especially an opportunity for Europeans, who very rarely can realistically attend the US blade show and the like.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Instead of a Virtual Amsterdam Meet, why not a Virtual Public Meet for all enthusiasts? :cheap-sunglasses

In person Amsterdam meet > Virtual Amsterdam meet

The commitment required to attend the real Amsterdam meet is part of the entry fee. ;)

It's not a big BLADE Show event, it is a private meet in a hotel conference room for some the most dedicated European Spyderco fans. They display a large number of prototypes and concepts at this meet. They would have no way to control anyone with nefarious intentions. Leaks and screenshots would be inevitable during a virtual meet. If it's just a public livestream, the exclusivity of the event is essentially gone.

I can foresee issues with a private virtual meet too. For an event that is primarily for Europeans, how could they limit the attendance to that demographic? One of the social media big brains will probably share the link on their platform of choice and the meet will be full of North Americans in 2 minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to attend the meet myself and have legitimately considered traveling for it but I've accepted that as something to look forward to doing in the future.

Isn't the rule of the Amsterdam meet is no pictures or video? Because they are showing prototypes? I never thought there would ever be a virtual seconds sale either but it happened.

Iirc in the past people (Jurphaas?) posted pictures of the prototypes after a go from Sal. I tried to attend the Amsterdam meet in the past but always was too late because the tickets flew out. I hope i get a chance next time

In the past they posted a post on the forum and you could apply for an entry card. Due to the limited amount of people that could attent (50?) it didn't take long before they ran out. Sal, Eric and Joyce then stopped at an Amsterdam Hotel before going on to a German knife show. There they showed what was in the pipeline for Spyderco for the near future. But maybe someone who attended can explain. Remember this was in the past, so i have no idea how they do it now.

I hope something happens. Wouter's pic thread is always my favorite part of the year.

Is there any helpful information available if the Amsterdam Meet will take place or not in March 2022?

An official statement from the Spyderco Crew would be much appreciated.

Never give up the hope! 😉

I wonder how the new reveal process will impact this? Having a meeting that shows off a bunch of new models and having a photographer share pics of those models is essentially the same thing and will stir up the same "how long until that's for sale" drama. I sure hope they continue doing it despite this... people need to work on being more patient.

Uncertain times we live.

Not sure how Spyderco could state anything at this time, officially or otherwise.

You are completely right!

But since they are officially registered for the IWA 2022 in Nürnberg (GER) (status as of 22.11.2021) i was wondering.

I just looked on the IWA legitimation rules.
No entry for private individuals.

Any news on the meet? Usually there's a thread around the 27th. My thumbs are still hurting from refreshing the main page :)
