Spyderco knife saves lives

This story happened quite recently in my country. It is a little unpleasant because a person died there. But in this story, there is a Spyderco knife that saved a life.

There was a group of tourists in the national park. One of the attendants left them. He went to base camp, did not reach him. As it turned out later, a bear attacked him and killed him.
Two people went to look for this porter. They were attacked by this same bear. One of them ran away, but the other could not.

Then the man took a knife from his pocket and began to beat the beast in the neck. He delivered about six blows, the bear threw him to the ground. Miraculously he managed to get out. Then the hospital healed his wounds - they bit his left shoulder blade and palm, tore his back and right buttock.
Later, rescuers arrived. The bear attacked them and they shot him.

There are photographs there. But they're pretty nasty. I didn’t post them.

Spyderco Resilience knife.

do you have a link to a story? the resilience is a large knife, but i definitely wouldn't want that to be my only defense against any wildlife, let alone a bear. amazing that he was able to get away.

That's incredible. Reminds me of the story a few years ago, about the man who used his Caly 3.5 to defend his son from a mountain lion.

Thanks for sharing!

One should always have a good knife and that is a good reason why. Kudos to Spyderco for making a good, dependable knife (though that man is lucky to be alive).

Reminds me of this.
I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever read anything on this forum that actually made me laugh out loud.

May as well try to beat the 12 stab record, you're gonna die anyway.

Hilarious, thanks VooDoo.

I know better than to expect good writing from the Daily Mail, but apparently the journalist doesn't know what a "pen knife" is.

Being that it is a UK rag, I'm surprised they did not call it a "monstrous murderblade" with which the tourist stabbed the "indigenous resident" with.

yeah... pen knife doesn't exactly reflect the nature of the resilience.

It’s not unusual. I’ve read some books written by UK writers that refer to ANY type of folding knife as a “pen knife.”

Hi Higher,

Thanx for sharing.

I live high in the Colorado Rockies and I rarely go out in the forest without a large knife and I usually have a firearm.

I am glad to know the record is 12 stabs… I hope I am carrying my Spyderco Military the day I need to break that record!!!

If I ever need to depend on a knife for something like this, (and survive) I will kindly buy Sal and company a round of drinks!

Where is that reference to Spyderco Resilence? I cannot find it, at Russian websites only generic "knife" is mentioned.

The topic was started by the knife seller who sold the knife. The hero of the story was already down there writing answers to questions

One heck of a penknife. Can't wait for the S35VN version to be released.

You asked a very correct question. All over the Internet there was a mention of this knife. I am a member of several telegram knife chats. It was mentioned there too. But as you noticed there was no primary source. After your question, I asked myself the same question "Am I misleading people?"
I began to search and found. The theme was started by one of the stores that Spyderco sells. This guy wrote to them himself. Then he himself wrote in this thread answers to questions.

A very scary story. I would not want any of us to be in this guy's place.
I found a detailed interview with him. We must read his words. At one point, he already said goodbye to life. But I'm glad he was able to survive. This guy has steel balls.
