Jester vs Ladybug
Jester vs Ladybug
For a key-chain knife and expectantly related minor cutting tasks, which would you prefer?
Luvbug,
The way I understand it the Jester is an upgrade from the ladybug. I found the jester very small. It want something just a little bigger you should look at the cricket. Maybe even the SS I have an SS with MOP scales (thanks to sc_rebel1957) in the mail to me now.

I have both, I use both (2 sets of keys). The jester "feels bigger" is easier to open one handed. I like the control texture on the front of the blade. The ladybug has a nice point for stabbing into plastic clamshell. If I had to pick only one, probably the jester.

The Jester has better ergonomics and a bigger round hole, thus it's easier to open. Yet, I preffer the Ladybug. I'd also love a PE Ladybug. I know there are a few left at Hamonoichiba.com. Just like Vox said, if someone orders from there (or any other place, for that matter), I'm in for at least one.

Unless you need the sharper point of the Ladybug, the Jester is more functional. For general pocket duty the Jester is easier to manipulate. What makes the Ladybug so endearing is that it is a miniature version of the Delica.

If you prefer plain edge, the Jester is the way to go. I have a PE Micarta Jester that I really like. Quite an interesting and useful design, with a blade shape that makes placing the index finger on the spine comfortable.
However, if you prefer SpyderEdge, the serrated sheepsfoot Ladybug II has its own merits. When I'm using a SE knife, I like to have as much straight edge as possible, rather than a curved edge. When I'm not carrying my Rescue Jr, the Ladybug II lets me carry a downsized version of the same knife. This knife is now discontinued, but can still be found various places online.

I've also found myself really liking the little LBK II. Lot's of cutting power in a tiny package. As tarsier mentioned, it's like a mini-Rescue Jr., and I don't have to worry about it jabbing me in the leg if it were to somehow swing open in my pocket. I've got a couple, and one lives on my keychain, the other is snapped to my kayaking PFD. Looks kinda cool with a Berkeley Point Mini Clip.
Spyderwa nice list of rare items.

I'd like to see a plainedge Ladybug too! I actually had one that BladeArt had brought over from Japan, but my wife stole it long ago. Shortly after that the Jester became available and I've been carrying one ever since.
I'm a big fan of both knives and would love to have plain-edge versions of both in my collection. And somehow, they always seem to end up in my pockets too.
