I noticed this semi-custom knife from a place I usually order my Moore Maker knives and some jeans from.

I really don't understand what they mean by "Nitro-V Steel with an AEB-L base". Is this a non-knife guy way of saying it's laminated steel? But, that makes no sense, as usually, laminated steel is something like super-cheap 420J2 with a higher-end core. I also read that Nitro V is based on AEB-L with added nitrogen and vanadium. So, is the latter what they mean?

So, it is basically very similar or even the same as Sandvik 14C28N:

The Sandvik 14C28N has a little more Cr obviously.

It sounds like it was written by someone who didn’t understand the description they were given. My guess is that it made just from Nitro-V.

PS, I hope it wasn’t you who got the last MM punch blade stockman!

No sir! But I've been looking at it. I'm hoping to find an older one Queen made, as I feel the quality is just a bit better than the ones Bear and Son currently makes. The Case 6318 in CV with a punch blade is about the same cost as the MM, so I'm leaning more towards it.

After I missed out on the last one at STT, I found a Case (Red Bone) at Shepard Hills. Thanks for the good info about the Queen made vs Bear & Sons.
