I pre-ordered a Shark as well, steep shipping from Europe, but I'm interested to see how it does.

Interesting material! Let's move this into the Mule section.

Does anybody know how ceramic blades are being produced? Wouldn't Spyderco need new machinery or tools or whatever to be able to produce a mule from this stuff?

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
I did preorder of Barracuda S, this size is most useful on my kitchen.
Sometimes during sharpening of my Zwilling knifes, I wonder how my wife can blur a knife with a gentle woman’s hand in just a few weeks. :)
So for me the best test is to give this new material knife to my wife for a month of use and compare with the stainless steel knife :D

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
I was impressed by Pete’s results testing this. I’m holding off for now because the sizes offered are quite small blades for what I use in the kitchen. I prefer a 10” chef’s knife and won’t go for anything <8”.
Very curious to hear feedback from those who have placed orders. I will pick up a paring knife or future larger chef’s knife if the feedback is good.

I ordered the black whale
From what I gather, these knives are super light, so a chef knife won’t feel the same for me. It will work as a pairing knife or utility knife size for my style of cooking. The video shows how he sharpens them FYI. I want to use it as a light backpacking knife and general food prep mid size knife.

Spyderco is an industry leader in materials. I would be interested to see if they would make a kitchen and or a folder out of this. Imagine how light a FRN handle knife would be? Think waterway style knife.

I am curious as to how a spyderco SE edge would fare. This may be the first ceramic that could be useful as a serrated edge.

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
A little curious as to how a mule would work as this appears to be a pretty flexible material and is probably being made rather thin. I'm all for it though.

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
Thin, flexible, impervious to rust, with a staggering amount of edge holding, anyone else thinking this material would make one hellova fillet knife?
Realizing there's no such thing as "the perfect knife", HIC-EC could possibly end my search for a new fillet. Especially since it checks all the boxes.

I actually got my Rhaven Shark in this week, seems well done although I haven't actually cut anything with it yet lol.
Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
I pre-ordered, but haven't received mine yet. I'm very interested to see how this material performs.

I was all set to order, but the shipping is 50% of the blade price. Shipping services in Switzerland must be very expensive.

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
I am still waiting on mine. I am sure that if they can make it thick enough it will be less flexible but would still make an amazing knife as a mule. This is gonna be my back up backpacking field knife I will have the ceramic knife and a fixed blade. It is so light that I won’t be able to detect I’m even caring it. I bet Spyderco can maximize the positives of this material in a folder if they so choose. This thing can out cut even the best of hard steels and hopefully be less chippy.

with its rust free properties and light weight it could make an amazing neck knife or boot knife that you won’t even know is there.

Everything in Switzerland is super expensive. It's one of the most expensive countries in the world, in terms of general price level. I think Norway might be pricier, but I don't think that any other country in Europe is.

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!
This elastic ceramic might just make the ideal knife for use in and around highly corrosive saltwater environments. I'd sure like to try it in a new Mule Team blade.
