..... I needed a PE anyway. Wish a non-H1 Hawkbill version was available.
You keep saying things like that people will think we're the same guy :D
Lol, Gonna say it again. Me Want!
Gotta say, I'm beginning to think the zdp-189 was a mistake. I'm thinking I would have liked a PE VG-10 better, or perhaps even an s30v if I could find one. The edge on the ZDP leaves a lot to be desired, no where near as sharp as either my VG-10 Ladybug or S35VN Native. Maybe it just needs a new edge? Under a loupe it appears to have several angles. Using the search function, it seems zdp-189 has two camps, those that love it and those that hate it. I want to be in the former but think I may end up in the later.
If sharpened properly ZDP will out perform VG-10. Im a big fan of zdp. My first spydie was a zdp dragonfly.
What are you sharpening with?

I currently use a Lansky setup that gets all my other knives super sharp. But I have a Sharpmaker on the way.
I have a Lansky. I think you will like ZDP-189 once you get it sharp. It is harder to sharpen and if you have to reprofile a badly done edge, it will take a bit of time, but it is doable. Once it is sharp, it stays sharp and it takes a wicked edge.

I got the CruWear Dragonfly last week and it’s been in my pocket as a backup knife ever since. I haven’t used it much yet but I’m starting to really like it.
I remember when the df2 came out, the dragonfly went to something that never caught my eye to something I had to have. I love the shape of the handle, and it works in more positions in my fat hand than the chaparral (I like both)
One day, I'll justify paying double for the g10 one
Persistence has finally paid off with the ZDP. So, to be fair, this DF was purchased at the outlet lest anyone think this was a factory first. The loupe made all the difference and underscored tonijedi's advice. I think I made things harder on myself by trying to change the angle to clean up the several different angles the blade came with. I went to a 34 degree included angle from what originally was mostly a 40 degree included. Didn't realize just how long it would take to actually change that angle! Appreciate all the encouragement!
The Dragonfly is my favorite Spyderco. I like smaller knives (Delica is my biggest) and the DFly just does it perfectly for me. I got a K390 version a while back and am still waiting for it to noticeably dull....I really like this steel so far. I really like my Chaps as well, but always seem to go back to a DFly most days.
