hospital carry. shh... don't tell anyone.
if you are the praying type, my son broke his radius and ulna (both bones in his forearm) yesterday afternoon and is having surgery this morning to set and repair them. he's a cool kid and so tough.
it was a rough week. my son broke his arm and needed surgery just days before his birthday. i didn't want to make a big deal about it, so i just asked for prayers for my son from anyone that felt so inclined.
anyway, i got a message from kristi that sal wanted to send something to my son. we exchanged messages a few times, but i wasn't sure what to expect. today, he opened a package addressed to him from spyderco to find this:
it's hard to find words to express how cool this is. my son is so encouraged to know that people he has never met could care enough to send him some love. what an amazing and precious gift for him to cherish.
sal, looking back at myself only a year older than my son is now when i convinced my mom to buy me a spyderco ladybug for my first knife, i never would've thought that almost thirty years later, i'd have kids of my own being blessed personally by you and your company. it's just as special to me as it is to him.
thank you so much for you generosity. there's a reason people hang around here and are so loyal to spyderco and it goes far beyond quality knives. you guys are amazing. thanks for putting a smile on my son's face and a great knife in his pocket. :) i know he'll treasure this knife and the memory of that time he broke his arm and people cared when they didn't have to.

After being on these forums for a while and watching the interaction between Sal and the forum members, I am not surprised by this. But yes, what a great guy! Pretty cool Sal...pretty cool.

This is awesome! I've seen Sal reach out and do great things for people over the years. Just another reason to love this forum and support this company. I hope Levi is recovering well so he can hopefully enjoy his summer!

This is amazing! It's because of that extraordinary level of integrity that I will forever be loyal to the Spyderco brand! :spyder:
I hope your son, Levi, heals quickly and can get well soon. He will be in my prayers.

When my Dad had his stroke, Sal and Co sent my mother and I a HUGE bunch of flowers.
We are in New Zealand, FYI
Class Act, folks!!!
Hope Levi gets sorted soon!

So awesome! A perfect example of why we all love and support Spyderco. But it sounds like I need to encourage my sons to climb higher trees, do crazier stunts on their bikes, and take the safety net off their trampoline.

:D

Contrary to popular belief, there really ARE some nice people left in this world.
So how's the kid doing? Healed in time for Summer Vacation?

That’s an incredibly nice gesture that puts a smile on my face.
As a teenager I also broke my radius and ulna clean in half just like your son. The ER doctor said that if I was one year older it would have been straight to surgery, instead I got a cast. For a week. Now I have two plates and 16 screws holding everything together. I can say from experience that I’ve been in his shoes and the experience was not pleasant but that he’ll be fine. Best wishes to Levi in his recovery.

Spot on buddy!! I'd rather hang here than with most people I deal with in real life on a daily basis, and I'm not kidding!

In the short time that I’ve been on these forums I have been amazed at how awesome sal and the rest of the spyderco crew have been. They always go above and beyond.
