Spyderco Techno 2 owners, I need a precise measurement.

Post by Xformer »

Hi all,

First, I wish you all a happy new year. :D

I need a precise measurement about the Spyderco Techno 2. I don't have the chance to test it for myself before I pull the trigger.

Here's a pic of the measurement I need :

Image

I need it in mm (milimeter) and as precise as possible, since I'm from Europe and very bad at numbers.

I also want to know how you'd call that part of a knife ? Finger real estate ? Finger estate ? Finger placement ? What's your best word for it ?

(Sorry for my english)

Can't help on the measurement, as I don't own a Techno 2, but I would call that portion of the handle the grip area.

The grip area is a very nice suggestion. I'd go for it.

I think the "grip area" is way more important than the handle lenght and it's often the latest that is featured on knife specifications.

From my own measurement, the Dragonfly (<3) grip area is 9,3cm, which makes it compet with the bugout grip area (9cm). Crazy for such a small knife and that's why I always found it more confortable to use than say an Ontario rat-2, which is a way bigger knife overall.

I'd agree that grip area is important, and should be listed. Problem, on knives like your Dragonfly, is that there are really two measurements for it, length including the finger choil, and length behind the finger choil. At the same time, I suggest that handle length/closed length can also be important. Especially to someone like me who carries their knives loose in their back pocket and needs to know whether or not it will fit horizontally at the bottom of their pocket.

The fit and finish is amazing, it's a little Slysz Bowie of some sort. Can't wait for @Sal to re-release its big brother. ;) ;) ;) ;) Big wink.

It's really hard to spyderflick though.

It is one of Spyderco 's better finishes and actions bar none. It' s also why I'd really love another Slysz collaboration.

It's also a dream to Spydieflick if you're a leftie like me. :D
